How to beat Krauser in Resident Evil 4 during Chapter 11
This fight when you first encounter Krauser in Chapter 11 is a little taste of what the long boss fight will look like in Chapter 14.
First, grab that boot knife sticking out of the structure in front of you! You’re going to be doing a lot of parries, so it’s best to have a backup knife, as they lose durability with every hit and parry.
For the rest of the fight, all you have to do is hit Krauser with your knife, parry his attacks, and melee him when he’s stunned. This is easier said than done, especially on professional difficulty where you need to perform a perfect parry for it to work.
If you find parry timing difficult, you might want to look at the knife symbol above your health bar instead. It flashes and the button prompt appears here when you should parry.
If Krauser catches you and your health is low, it’s best to escape using your knife instead of mashing the buttons, otherwise your health will drop. If you’re struggling with knife durability and have a lot of health items, you should mash the buttons instead.
Once the fight is over, you won’t have to fight Krauser again until the end of Chapter 14.
How to Beat Krauser in Resident Evil 4 Chapter 14
Here is our Resident Evil 4 Krauser boss strategy during Chapter 14:
Fight Krauser Strategy – Ruins
Preparing for the Krauser fight might actually be more difficult than the main boss fight itself, as there are so many ways to get hurt.
For the first part, you have to squat down and take cover from Krauser’s laser sight behind the crumbling ruins and shoot Krauser after he shoots you, because that’s when he’s vulnerable. We used our bolt action rifle here, but any medium to long range weapon will do.
After taking enough damage, Krauser will jump up and initiate a knife fight. It’s all about parrying between your own stabs here, so remember to keep an eye out for that knife symbol above your health bar if you’re struggling with the timing of your parries.
Krauser will periodically jump and start shooting again, but then quickly jump and return to knife combat. Make sure you’re crouching behind some debris or running behind a column when this happens, then try to shoot him before he jumps if you get the chance.
Krauser throws a flash grenade to end this part of the fight. When he does, climb the ruins to spin a wheel and open the door with the yellow symbol printed on it.
The next section is full of traps, so keep an eye out on the ground for mines and bear traps, but you also need to look above for cameras with a turret attached. To make matters worse, Krauser will occasionally catch you attacking from behind and you’ll have to mash a button to escape.
Once you’ve climbed some stairs past the small area with a red weed and crush box, you need to run and crouch behind the debris here to avoid Krauser’s laser sight, but don’t get too close to the debrisas it explodes when Krauser hits it.
Hit Krauser between his shots with a long range weapon if you can and climb the ruins. When you approach the door, ignore the box and run straight, because Krauser will throw grenades
Through the door in front of you is another knife and gun fight with Krauser. You should use the same parry and shoot strategy here, dodging Krauser’s shots behind the columns – but watch out for the mines! If you can, get Krauser away from the mines so that when you dodge his attacks, Leon doesn’t land in one.
Once Krauser takes enough damage, Leon will fall through the floor, which means it’s almost time to fight in the boss arena.
Our Resident Evil 4 walkthrough can help you through the village with guides on the Large and Small Cave Shrine puzzle solutions, the Church Dial puzzle, and the Del Lago, El Gigante, and Méndez bosses. When you reach the castle you have to tackle the treasure sword, the four slot wall, the dining hall bell and the exact time of the grandfather clock, as well as the dungeon Garrador, to two giants and to the bosses of Ramón Salazar. The island is next, and there are still puzzles with calibration puzzles, keycard locations and a hidden key, as well as the final bosses Krauser and Sadler.
Fight Krauser strategy – boss arena
Instead of parrying a knife, you have to parry blows from Krauser’s mutated arm during his fight in the boss arena. Only this time between parries we recommend using a shotgun to damage Krauseror any high damage weapon that you have plenty of ammo for.
When Krauser has his arm guarding his body, prepare for a parry, like shooting him here, you’re just wasting ammo. When Krauser is staggered from your parry or kick, that’s the best time to pull out a weapon and damage it.
If you are having difficulty, then the Broken Butterfly Magnum is the best weapon for hitting Krauser while he’s unguarded. However, there isn’t much ammo available throughout the game, so you might want to save it for the final boss fight instead.
Once Krauser takes enough damage, he’ll prepare to rush into the arena. When you see him jump like that, run to the edge of the lower part or climb a ladder to the upper part. On harder difficulties you probably won’t have enough time to run up the ladder, so stick to the edge to stay safe.
Apart from this extra attack, Krauser is much more aggressive in this second phase of the boss arena fight, so be prepared for even more parries! Don’t forget to shoot him between parries and it shouldn’t take long to end the fight after activating the second phase.
For defeating Krauser, you will get his combat knife, which you can use or sell. If this is your first time facing Krauser, you’ll also unlock the “You Were a Good Guy” trophy or achievement.
Good luck for Krauser!
