Defeat Undead Grius in Metaphor: ReFantazio is something you must do when you first set foot in the grand Regalith Cathedral.
During this metaphor: ReFantazio fight, our archetypes were the seeker (protagonist), the warrior (Strohl), and the knight (Hulkenberg). At the very beginning of this fight, you will also unlock synthesis skills which will be useful for controlling your party mid-battle. The fight with Grius is a single phase fight, but that doesn’t make it easy by any means: in life he was a talented warrior, so in death he is a brutal and talented warrior.
With this in mind, here is how to beat Undead Grius in Metaphor: ReFantaziobut keep in mind that this was written for “Normal” difficulty and the battle may be different if you chose a higher level.

How to beat Undead Grius in Metaphor ReFantazio
To defeat Undead Grius in Metaphor ReFantazio, you must use your newly discovered Archetype Skills and Synthesis Skills to chip away at his health and keep your party alive during his onslaught of attacks.
Throughout the battle, Grius only actually uses two attacks: the Phantom Dance attack which impacts the entire team and a sword attack aimed at a single party member. You can guard against it if you choose to do so before its turn, otherwise there’s not much you can do about the attacks except survive them.
If you have Hulkenberg’s “Jump Thrust” synthesis skill, use it to reduce Grius’ defense for three turns and deal piercing damage to him. If you lower his defense, you give your party a better chance of damaging him with their attacks. We used it every time Grius’ defense replenished.
Also use your new synthesis skills to deal damage, but be careful how much you use them as they take MP from all involved members and will also use the turn of the owner of the action as well as the ally with which they combine. This can mean that in exchange for a damaging hit, you give Grius another opportunity to strike – we found it best to use these skills when Grius’ defense has been reduced.
One of the most crucial things to remember about all this combat is to keep your entire party alive: if one member is low on health, you need to replenish it enough to keep them in the fight . It will be much more difficult if an ally dies and there are two or even just one of you left.
The protagonist’s “Cyc” archetype attack also deals a decent amount of damage to Grius, which is good to know because Hulkenberg’s synthesis skill uses him and Strohl’s MP, leaving the protagonist’s MP free for that. However, remember that basic melee attacks between the larger ones will also come in handy – don’t just focus on special moves.
If you follow all of the tips above and continue to persist in the battle, you should be able to defeat Undead Grius fairly quickly.
