How to Change Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2
If you want to change the vocation of the occurrence or the main pawn (or both) in Dragon’s Dogma 2, then you must visit a vocations guild, such as Vernworth. Some hostels, like Melve, will also offer you the possibility of changing your Vocation.
Once you’re at the Vocation Guild, talk to the person behind the desk (sign of importance) before selecting “Change Vocation” or “Learn/Equip Skills”. It doesn’t matter which option you choose, because they will both take you to the respec menu – just different sections of it.
In the respec menu, you will be able to modify your vocation, your weapon skills, your base skills and your augmentations for the Arisen and main pawn. However, to do this, you must first have unlocked these abilities or vocations by spending discipline, which we will cover in the next section. Because, apart from the four starting vocations, you will have to fulfill conditions to access them, such as completing the vocation frustration for the sorcerer and warrior vocations.
You’ll also unlock more weapon skills, basic skills, and upgrades as you level up, but unlocking vocations works a little differently.
Change vocation
To change your vocation, you must first unlock a new vocation by selecting “Acquire” and spending the required amount of discipline. From this moment on, you can move on to this vocation whenever you want; but make sure to unlock certain skills the first time you do it. Fortunately, you won’t have to reassign your weapon skills or upgrades if you like to move between vocations.
When you switch to another profession, you will be asked if you want to visit the Equipment menu, which can be very useful if you have gathered new equipment for the profession you have switched to.
It’s important to remember that when you first start Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will only have access to the four starting vocations: Fighter, Archer, Mage, and Thief. However, as you undertake your adventure, you will be able to unlock additional vocations, such as Warrior and Sorcerer.
There are also four vocations exclusive to the Arisen: Magick Archer, Mystic Spearhead, Trickster and Warfarer. Your main pawn can not have one of these Vocations.
Change Weapon Skills
You can assign up to four weapon skills at the same time and the respec menu allows you to not only unlock new ones, but also decide which button that skill is assigned to. Some weapon skills also have advanced forms, which are now powerful versions of the skill, so be sure to visit a professional guild regularly to ensure you have the best skills at your disposal.
Weapon skills and their advanced forms cost discipline.
Basic skills explained
There is no limit to the number of basic skills you can unlock or assign, so you are free to unlock as many as you want. Don’t forget how to use them!
Just like with weapon skills and professions, you will need to spend discipline to unlock new basic skills.
Modification of increases
Augments span across all Vocations, and any Augment can be awarded regardless of the Vocation you have. This means that if you unlock an augmentation, such as Subtlety as a thief, but then change your vocation, you can still grant that augmentation. Like everything else in the respec menu, you will need to spend Discipline to unlock them.
You can have a maximum of six augmentations assigned to the appeared pawn and the main pawn. All upgrades, along with their abilities, can be viewed from the “Vocations” section of the respec menu.
How to get discipline in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You can get Discipline in Dragon’s Dogma 2 by defeating enemies and completing quests. Once you’ve accumulated a good amount of Discipline, head to a Vocation Guild where you can spend it on new weapon skills, basic skills, upgrades and even respec your Arisen or main pawn by changing their vocation.
It is important to note that the Discipline you gather is shared between the Surgien and the Main Pawn. This means you’ll need to watch what you spend, because if you use it all on your Arisen, you won’t be able to unlock anything for the main pawn until you gather a little more discipline. Fortunately, the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is full of enemies, so you’re never short of sources of discipline.
Your current amount of Discipline can be found in the upper right corner of the Vocations Guild respec menu. Keep in mind that the more powerful the skill or augmentation, the more discipline you will need to unlock it.
I hope you enjoy respecting your Arisen in Dragon’s Dogma 2!
