Boc the designer is a small demi-human in Elden Ring. When you first meet him, he’s disguised as a tree, but if you answer his call for help, you’ll find that he has his own series of quests to complete. And as you might have guessed from his name, Boc is able to modify and customize your armor once you give him back his tools. So follow our step-by-step guide to complete your quest.
Where to find Boc
You meet Boc for the first time Limgraveat this location next to the Birdseye Telescope, not far from the north side of Agheel Lake:
It stands there like a little talking tree or bush (whatever you want to call it) and babbles as you approach. Roll against the tree once to unmask it. Talk to Boc and he will tell you about the demi-human colony of Coastal Cavefrom where he was expelled.
Exhaust all your dialogue options until he offers to reward you with something very valuable from this “cruel cave”.
Boc in the Coastal Cave
The second encounter takes place in the Coastal Cave, where he lies wounded and groaning next to the Site of Grace. Defeat him Demi-human leaders at the bottom of the cave, and you will receive the Sewing needle as a reward. Talk to Boc again.
Give Boc his needle back, talk to him again and rest. When you wake up, you will find that Boc has disappeared again, and you will then find him at the Site of Grace. “Cliffs facing the lake” in Liurnia of the Lakes.
You can join him here after the fight with Godrick, or by riding east around Stormveil Castle. Talk to him there, and he can now customize your armor.
His quest continues with the following three steps:
- Get it Golden sewing needle from the Church of Vows (found east of Liurnia).
- Purchase at least one piece of customizable “Legendary” hero armor from Enia at Roundtable Hold. Please note: only demigod armor counts as legendary (Radahn, Morgott, etc.).
- Talk to Melina de Boc on the Grace Site “East Gate Raya Lucaria“.
Give Boc the Golden Sewing Needle, as he will need it to adjust the legendary armor (unfortunately, Rennala’s clothes don’t count, nor does Godrick’s equipment).
Fourth meeting with Boc
Boc will then appear on the Grace Site “East Gate Raya Lucaria” after having accessed the Raya Lucaria Academy (with the Shining Stone Key from the Meeting Place Academy).
You should find it next to the aforementioned Site of Grace once it has been activated and you have rested there once. Then you can also talk to Melina de Boc at the Site of Grace to complete the third step mentioned above.
Meet at Plateau Altus
Boc then finds himself on the Altus plateau. He waits next to the Site of Grace.”Altus Highway Junction“.
This step isn’t that important to his quest because we don’t learn anything new about him here, but he will still do some sewing if you want. Otherwise, that’s it for this step.
Complete Boc’s quest
You will then meet Boc at the Site de Grâce”Eastern Capital Wall” within Royal Capital Leyndell (to which you must have access).
If you haven’t given him the Golden Needle yet, this is where he will stay put from now on, so give him the needle if you haven’t already. He will make some comments about his appearance and ask for your opinion.
Whatever you say to him, he will express his desire to be reborn. The quest can now be completed in different ways:
- Give him a Larval tear and after a rest he will go to Rennala to the Academy of Raya Lucaria. There he is reborn in human form, but cannot answer you. Rest again and Boc dies.
- Use the chatty pâté “You are beautiful” (found in the Hermit Village at Mount Gelmir) in the presence of Boc and speak to him again. This ends Boc’s side quest.
