As guardians of Destiny 2 unraveling Riven’s plans and Ahamkara’s wish granted, a new invasion took place. But unlike previous invasions, this one involves neither the Vex, nor the Cabal, nor even the Hive. No, it’s an invasion of… cats?
That’s right, the celestial felines known as Star Cats have been hiding all around the solar system, and it’s up to you to find them all. We’ve done the work to locate all of these adorable, tiny apex predators, and bring you this Starcat guide, showing you where to find find all Starcat locations in Destiny 2.
In the Garden of Bounty in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to peer from a place of power.
Garden of Abundance, Riven’s Lair
This Starcat, like many others, can be found in one of the many possible rooms in Riven’s Lair. You can run Riven’s Lair repeatedly until you get lucky, or run The Coil and continue until it appears. When you arrive at the Garden of Plenty, run to the back of the area and turn left just before the stairs. The cat is a small ledge down on the side of the cliff.
In the blind well, this Starcat likes to wait by the door
The Blind Well, Dream City
This is one of the easiest cats to find. Load it into the blind well of the director of the city of dreams. Run straight towards the big doors. The cat will be waiting, nestled in the center where the double doors meet.
In the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath in Riven’s Den, this Starcat likes to hide in corners.
Temple of the Queen’s Wrath, Riven’s Lair
Launch into Riven’s Lair or The Coil and keep running until the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath appears. We recommend running Riven’s Lair and checking the mission name as soon as you load it. If it says “Tautology”, then the Temple of the Queen’s Wrath will appear. As soon as you enter the room, look to the right to see an opening to an adjoining hall. Enter it and turn right again (a bit of a U-turn). There are two versions of this room/mission. You can see the board when you go back, it means you are in the wrong room and you need to try again. If you see a statue, then you are in the right place. This feline is nestled just behind this statue.
In Starlight’s Lost Sector Chamber, this Starcat likes to calculate gravity.
Chamber of Starlight, City of Dreams
Travel to the Dream City and head to Rheasilvia. You will need to enter the Chamber of Starlight Lost area. The entrance is in the corner of the chasm which cuts this region in two. Make your way to the large room, to the right is a platform, probably guarded by the boss. Grab your Sky Cat from the table in this area.
In the Lost Sector of the Bay of Drowned Wishes, this Starcat likes to meditate on orbs.
Baie des Noyés, City of Dreams
This cat can be found in the desired Lost Sector of Drowned Bay, located just behind where you enter the Devalin Mists of the City of Dreams. Fight until you reach the cave with the boss and the chest. Look on the ledge at the top right of this chest to find the Star Cat waiting for your offering.
In the Lost Sector of Aphelion’s Rest, this Starcat likes to sit in the bowl.
The rest of Aphelion, the city of dreams
Next up is another Dreaming City Lost area, this time you’re looking for Aphaelions Rest, behind the cliffs at the far end of The Strand region. Once inside, fight your way to the boss area and look at the raised cliff behind the chest to find this feline.
In the Gnashing Chamber of Riven’s Lair, this Starcat appreciates fine arts.
Creaking Chamber, Riven’s Lair
Continue diving into Riven’s Lair or The Coil until you find yourself in the Gnashing Chamber. In the center of this room is a circular platform with a pool of light. Look to the left (with your back facing where you entered from) to see a table with various accessories. The cat will be right on top of the table (probably waiting for a chance to knock something over).
In the Reaver’s Orison in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to scavenge
The Reaver’s Prayer, Riven’s Lair
Yet another Starcat hidden in Riven’s lair. Once again, you will need to run Riven’s Lair or The Coil until chance puts this piece in your path. As soon as you arrive at Reavers Osiris, look slightly to the right at the black, gnarled tree. The cat takes refuge hidden among the roots on the right.
In the sycophant’s cell in Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to hide in the bushes.
Sycophant Cell, Riven Lair
The next Starcats in Riven’s Lair will ask you to run through Riven’s Lair or The Coil again until you reach a room called the Sycophant’s Cell. Once you enter this arena, look towards the right side wall. There is a large door in the center. Follow the wall further right and the cat will be nestled near the corner.
Spine of Keres: keeps Techeuns company
Backbone of Keres, the city of dreams
Load into the City of Dreams and travel to the Keres Spine region following the lines of the cliffs on a long counterclockwise loop path. Once you reach Keres Spine, you will see an imposing building. Head inside and locate the balcony with a person standing on it. The cat is resting right next to them.
Within Harbinger’s Seclude, this Starcat enjoys spending time with friends.
Harbinger’s Secluded, Dream Town
Then your path leads you to Harbingers Seclude. This is the large building on your left as you travel to Rheasilvia in the City of Dreams. Enter the structure and you will eventually come to a room with a huge flail on the left. Go straight, go through the door and jump off the balcony into the next room. Now turn around, walk forward and jump into the deep well. Enter the circular area and look for a small side room with the Ahamkara Skull for Muninn (not Huhinn, who is in the next room). Look behind the table Muninn is sitting on to find the sneaky feline hiding,
In Esila’s gardens, this Starcat likes to hide by the water
Esila Gardens, City of Dreams
This one is in Esila Gardens, accessible from the southwest corner of The Strand. Once you reach this gap, move forward through the enemies until the area curves to the right. You will see a small building and a bridge. The cat is under this bridge.
Within the Confluence, this Starcat likes to stare into space
La Confluence, City of Dreams
Travel to the spine of Keres, similar to the seventh cat. This time, don’t actually enter the building. Instead, when you reach the bridge leading inside, look for the path down and to the right that circles the nearby cliff. This will lead to a portal. Take it and you will be transported to the confluence. Head straight through the halls and look for the large round mass of withered vines. This cat will sit casually at the base of these.
In the Astral Cloister of Riven’s Lair, this Starcat likes to enjoy his solitude
The Astral Cloister, Riven’s Lair
The last Starcat in Riven’s Lair can be found in the Astral Cloister. Once again, you’ll need to keep running Riven’s Lair or The Coil until you’re sent to this area, which is made up of a series of floating platforms covered in enemies. There are several exit portal options, look around until you see one near that lonely “island” with a statue on top. The cat will be near the glowing blue ball behind the statue. Note that there is a bug that can make the chat invisible, as is the case in the screenshot above. Look for the message “Give a gift” and tap the bottom prompt to collect the kitten, visible or not.
In the Black Garden…wait, how did this Starcat get here?
Exotic and starry mission
This one takes work. The Starcrossed mission is unlocked during the weekly Wishing all the Best quests. This cat can be found at the very end of Starcrossed, in a portal behind the large skeleton, on top of a cliff. However, you will have to overcome a few obstacles in order to build a path to it and open the portal.
You will first need to complete Starcrossed for the first time and earn the Wish-Keeper exotic bow. Next, you will need to visit Mara Sov in the HELM and collect the four Wish-Keeper Catalyst missions. You will need to complete all four of them to reach the cat. Our comprehensive guide will walk you through the process.
It’s worth keeping in mind that all four quests will require you to complete Starcrossed on Legend difficulty, so it’s best to advance each one to this stage and complete them in one go. This will also allow you to climb the platforms, go through the portal, and grab the cat at the end of the hallway.
Good luck finding the Starcats in Destiny 2!
