ODM gear in Fortnite is a new equipable item that you can use to move around the map and you must use it to complete some of the quest challenges to unlock Eren Jaeger.
The first step to complete any of these challenges in Fortnite is actually to research some of the ODM gear. Luckily, there are several ways to get your hands on this useful traversal and attack-based tool.

How to find ODM gear in Fortnite
Fortnite ODM gear can be found as floor loot scattered around the map, in treasure chests, or in special lockers in the Pathfinder Regiment. Additionally, as with most loot in Fortnite, you can also pick it up from downed players who have dropped their ODM gear.
Floor Loot
You can find ODM Gear as ground loot, it can be anywhere on the map. Inside a building or outside, hidden upstairs or downstairs under a bridge. You may come across it by chance while browsing the map.
However, we frequently found ODM Gear as floor loot at Anvil Square, The Citadel, and Frenzy Fields.
treasure chests
You can also find ODM Gear by open treasure chests dotted on the map. Not all treasure chests contain this item, so it’s really a game of chance whether you find one this way or not.
We recommend opening any you find as the chests can still contain some good loot and a fair amount of gold.
Pathfinder Regiment Footlockers
You are pretty much guaranteed to find ODM Gear in Pathfinder Regiment Footlockers. These are Attack on Titan themed loot boxes hidden around the map and you will need to do some hunting to find them. They are usually hidden out of sight or tucked away in a room.
We frequently found Scout Regiment Footlockers at the Citadel and Anvil Square.

How to Use ODM Gear in Fortnite
Once you’ve gotten your hands on ODM Gear, it’s time to learn how to use it. The ODM Gear basically works like a grappling hook, you aim where you want to go, pull the gear and you’ll be pulled towards your target.
Then you can choose to swing around your target or jump as you swing to launch into a glide. You can move quite quickly doing this, and it’s great for gaining the advantage against your enemies.
Swing with ODM Gear
To swing with ODM Gear, equip it as you would with a normal weapon, then look at the left side of your screen. Here you should see two control/command prompts. Use the one that has ‘Grapple’ written next to it.
Then look around you. You should see a circle appear on your screen. If there is an ‘X’ in the middle, it means you cannot use the ODM Gear facing you. If the circle is whole, you can use the gear.
All you have to do once you have the full circle East press guest control/command to pull yourself towards your target. Hold down the control/command and move your directional stick to swing while you are drawn to your target.
If you want to throw yourself off the swing, use your jump command while you’re being pulled and you should be thrown. During this time you can look around and grab onto another target or you can drop. You do not take fall damage while using ODM Gear.
Attack with ODM Gear
You can also attack with ODM Gear (which will help you complete another quest). It can deal a lot of damage to an enemy, so it’s worth knowing about it.
When you equip your ODM gear, you should see two options appear on the left side of your screen with control prompts. THE ‘Hover/Attack’ one is the one you need to attack an enemy.
Use the indicated control command, then aim at your enemy. Once you are happy with your target, release control/command to attack the target.
Limited usability
However, the ODM Gear has limited usability. When choosing a piece of gear, look at your weapon inventory in the lower right corner of your screen. You should see a bar next to the small ODM Gear image.
This the bar will slowly decrease each time you use the ODM Gear. Once depleted, the equipment will break and disappear from your inventory. You will then have to find another set.
ODM Equipment Cooldown
Also ODM Gear will need to cool between uses. Once you use it and deplete its stamina, the gear will return to your inventory and be grayed out for a while. A small symbol will appear on the image in the lower right corner of your screen to indicate that it is cooling. Once the symbol is full, you can use the gear again.
All challenges that require ODM Gear in Fortnite
There are quite a few challenges in Fortnite for which you need ODM Gear. We’ve listed the challenges below and the rewards for completing them.
For the first challenge we listed, we found it very easy to complete in the forest near Anvil Square. There are a bunch of trees close together and it’s easy to swing between them in succession.
