Arceus can now be taken in Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl.
To do this, however, you must first meet a number of requirements, one of which involves Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Unfortunately, this means that if you don’t own this game, you can’t catch Arceus in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl.
You will find below how to get Arceus in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl.
If you want to know more about the game, visit our Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl walkthrough.
How to get Arceus in Pokemon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl
If you want to catch Arecus in Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl, you must first meet three conditions.
The first is to have a save file for Pokémon Legends: Arceus on your Nintendo Switch where you have completed all the main missions. This includes post-game missions, and if you want to know where you are in the main campaign, visit our Pokémon Legends: Arceus walkthrough.
Second, in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you must have entered the Hall of Fame by beating the Elite Four and unlocking the National Pokédex. If you haven’t finished the main campaign yet, check out our walkthrough for Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Finally, you need to download Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl version 1.3.0, which went live on Tuesday, March 15. It should automatically download to your Nintendo Switch if it’s connected to the internet.
If that didn’t happen, make sure your console is connected to the internet, then press the “+” button when selecting Pokémon Shining Diamond or Shining Pearl from the main menu. Here you will find the option to perform a software update via the Internet or by matching your current version with local users.
Once you’ve met these requirements, start Pokémon Shiny Diamond or Shiny Pearl and visit your home in Twinleaf Town. Here in your room on the top floor, you’ll find the Azure Flute next to the Nintendo Switch.
After collecting the Azure Flute, stock up on health items and your favorite Poké Balls before visiting Spear Pillar atop Mount Coronet. Upon arrival, you will be prompted to play the Azure Flute, which will cause a staircase to appear.
Arceus is waiting for you at the top of those stairs, and since this Pokemon isn’t shiny locked, it’s the perfect place to save if you’re hunting in shiny.
Arceus will be level 80, and since it’s a Normal-type Pokemon, it’s weak to Fighting-type attacks. Be careful though – you don’t want Arceus to pass out!
We recommend using a Pokemon that is both below level 80 and can target Arceus’ weaknesses, so you can safely whittle down its health. It’s also a good idea to paralyze or put Arceus to sleep to reduce his ability to attack you.
Finally, the Ultra Balls are a good choice of Poké Ball, but, if you still have some, you can always use the Master Ball. However, you might want to keep it in case you come across a Shiny Pokemon!
Good luck catching Arceus!
