Depending on the type of player you are, the news that Dragon’s Dogma 2 would be I don’t have fast travel you either groaned in frustration or jumped out of your seat in excitement. (However Harbor Crystals suggest some sort of quick trip – if you can find them.)
For the most part, fast travel has often featured large, sprawling worlds, regardless of genre, and now to play an RPG that doesn’t have that comfort and security? It certainly shakes up the tone and feel of Dragon’s Dogma 2, for better or worse.
However, that doesn’t mean there’s no “fast travel” feeling. Dragon’s Dogma 2 thrives when you discover new things and explore new territories, but getting from place to place doesn’t have to be on foot.
In this guide we will explain the different modes of transportation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and why and/or when you would like to use them in your adventure. With how to get port crystalsand a look at Ferrystonesin Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to get Port Crystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Getting your own Harbor Crystals is one of the best things you can do, as you can teleport around the map without having to navigate your way everywhere on foot or by ox cart. However, getting them is much more difficult than it seems.
Aside from the Harbor Crystal that Captain Brant gives you later in the game, players wanting to collect a Harbor Crystal will be happy to know that you can purchase them via a Wyrm Life Crystal at Bay Wayside Sanctuary in Battahl . The exact location of this store can be seen on the map below.
Getting into Battahl is a bit tricky early in the game, so we recommend trying to sneak past the checkpoint when you are at least level 15-20.
The Bay Wayside Sanctuary is in a cave on a sandy beach. Enter the cavern and you will find a riftstone and a tunnel on the left. In this tunnel, you will find an NPC called The Dragonforged, who will sell you three items: Ferrystones, Port Crystals, and an Unmaking Arrow.
The problem is that you may not have Wyrmslife Crystals. These are earned by killing drakes and dragons and gaining the crystallized droplets of their blood. If you’ve already killed several of them, then you’re lucky and can purchase these crystals without issue, but if not, you’ll have to go hunt down a few of these scaly demons before you can purchase them. any of them.
Harbor Crystals and Ferry Stones Explained in Dragon’s Dogma 2
The marketing around Dragon’s Dogma 2 certainly didn’t lie when it said there was no fast travel, but that wasn’t entirely the truth either.
As you progress through the world and story of Dragon’s Dogma 2, you will find that certain locations (such as Harve Village and Vernworth) have permanent items called Port crystals. Port Crystals in towns cannot be moved and you can only teleport there by first interacting with them and then using Ferrystones (small blue stones) which can be purchased from merchants and/or found scattered all over the world.
You can also purchase your own port crystals and drop them around the world. For example, that cave you want to eventually explore, but just don’t have time for right now? Drop a Crystalport there, then once you’re ready, use your Ferrystone to transport there later.
The downside is that you are only allowed to place ten of your own port crystals at a time. You can collect these port crystals and move them, but even so, be doubly sure that you are still happy with the placement.
Oxcarts in Dragon’s Dogma 2 explained
In most fantasy settings, the bread and butter of travel is considered to be the elegant and refined horses and carriages that transport people to and from locations. In Dragon’s Dogma 2, horses apparently don’t exist and the most luxurious mode of transportation is, in fact, the oxcart.
Pulled by a large, heavy ox with a sturdy wooden cart attached to the back, oxcarts are driven by a driver wearing a small cap and fancy outfit. These drivers are ready to take you, the Arisen, to any major city or town in the world for a reasonable price of 100 to 500 gold, depending on location.
Ox carts may not be very visible from the outside, and they’re incredibly slow compared to you and your group sprinting everywhere, but they do have some advantages. The first is that as soon as you get on it, you have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy the ride. Sitting and watching the fields and mountains go by as an ox cart traveled from Melve to Vernworth was surprisingly enjoyable rather than boring. Of course, if you prefer not to, you also have the option of dozing off. Here, the game will wake you up either when you get there or if your journey is interrupted by beasts attacking during raids.
Speaking of raids, oxcarts hold up remarkably well to attacks from goblins and wolves. Not only are you and your pawns there to hold them back, but the oxcarts also come with a group of guards to help you out.
The downside to oxcarts is that they only run at a certain time, so you’ll have to wait until morning to grab one. While ox carts are great for small groups, it’s also possible for a griffin to appear out of nowhere to grab an ox for its dinner, leaving you and your cart in the lurch. Rude, that.
Griffons in Dragon’s Dogma 2 explained
Now, we don’t want to get your hopes up too much by including this section. But technically you can fast travel via Griffin. You may have to fight him afterward, as he’s a griffin and probably wants to eat you for second breakfast.
To travel on a griffin, you must be on your back during combat. Griffons are very powerful enemies, and you will need a lot of resources and patience to finally wear one down and be able to kill it. However, griffons are much smarter than your average goblin and will try to fly away if they think they’ve picked a fight they know they can’t win.
If you continue to hold them, they will eventually fly away and take you back to their den. The downside to this? You’ll probably be fighting for your life right after, so be prepared for the fight to continue. But don’t worry about your pawns, they have the ability to teleport to you no matter where you go, so the fight will remain fair.
And a quick tip: you don’t need to hold on when you’re flat on your back, which will help preserve endurance, but if they start to shake or twist, grab them.
Good luck traveling in the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2!
