How to get to the Cerulean Coast in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Cerulean, Coast, Elden, Erdtree, Ring, Shadow

THE Cerulean Coast is one of the first areas you can see from Shadow of the Erdtree’s starting area, Gravesite Plain, but getting there is another matter entirely, as trying to descend its steep cliffs will only result in quick death and painful.

Luckily, we’re here to show you how to get to the Cerulean Coast safely, and you can start traveling there almost as soon as you start Shadow of the Erdtree. This area is not part of the main story, but you will want to follow this route in order to claim the South Coast map fragment, which fills the entire bottom half of your Shadow Realm map. So keep reading below to find out how to get to the Cerulean Coast from Gravesite Plain.

How to Get to Cerulean Coast

You can access the Cerulean Coast region of the South Coast by heading towards Ensis Castle. However, instead of passing through Ensis Castle, head east when you reach the Site of Grace.Facade of the Castle‘, and follow the road down the hill past the warring trolls.

You can also go to Scadu Altus and avoid Ensis Castle this way, and you will need to follow the slope all the way to the end and turn left at the end of it.

Progress a bit through the Poison Bog area, but when you see the large Miranda Sprout you will also discover a route to your left. Take this route and beware of the demihuman militiamen hiding in the tall grass: they will throw poison bombs at you and their large scythes can cause blood loss if you take too many hits.

At the bottom of this slope you will see a large crab and another Miranda Sprout, the latter standing right next to the entrance to a cave that you need to pass through. You can safely pass these two enemies if you ride Torrent, but watch your step around the Miranda Sprout, as it will produce large clouds of poison when you approach it, so approach with caution .

Once in the cave, light your lantern and climb onto the rock ledges to your left. There is a corpse hanging above you and you can follow the path to the right to reach it. He has 1x Dark purple lily plunder.

Turn around and continue further into the cave. As you travel through the shallows, you will see a statue with 1x Revered Spirit Ash on your right, then the Site de Grâce’Ellac River Cave” just around the corner. Activate it and continue towards the main bed of the Ellac River.

You have two options here. If you head north down the main riverbed, you’ll find yourself at Rivermouth Cave, an optional dungeon whose boss, Chief Bloodfiend, will reward you with a new summon of Spirit Ash.

However, this won’t get you any closer to the Cerulean Coast, so we recommend going left towards the south towards the waterfall.

If you haven’t summoned Torrent yet, you’ll need to do so now, as you’ll need him to jump onto the rock outcroppings in the middle of the ravine. There’s no other way down at this point, so take a deep breath and confidence in Torrent’s double jump.

After two jumps, you will notice that there is a corpse on a central pillar with an item to collect. It’s the Grand Potentate Cookbook (12)which contains one of the many important crafting recipes in Shadow of the Erdtree.

Keep jumping around the waterfall area and you’ll eventually reach solid ground. There are bird monsters lining the rock ledges here, so watch your step and move slowly through these encounters – unless you want to fall to your death in the river.

Going down through the pillars you will find a corpse with 1x Darkforge Stone (4) above. Grab it, then continue downward, using the rock ledges to descend safely to the lower level.

You’ll spot another Site of Grace ahead, as well as a friendly ghost NPC who talks about a coffin that can take passengers on a “gentle cruise to the velvet garden of deepest purple.” Remember this, as it’s a hint you’ll need as part of Thiollier’s questline.

For now, though, continue down the right side of the ravine, using Torrent to continue descending further and further until you reach the end of the river tunnel.

Where the water flattens out and becomes more of a lake, cross to the other side on Torrent, watching out for lightning goats (large and small) grazing on the other side. You’ll also see a Furnace Golem further away, but you don’t need to worry about that for now.

Continue through the Thunder Goat Fields past the Furnace Golem and cross the river again heading southwest on the gentle slope.

You will see fields of blue grass sparkling in the distance at the foot of the cave and you will have finally reached the Cerulean Coast. Congratulations!

You can now explore part of this important sub-region of the South Coast. If you continue south, you’ll reach the Map Fragment Stele and another Miquella’s Cross location, and if you head east, you’ll eventually face the Demi-Human Queen Marigga, who will drop the star sword magic weapon on defeat. You can also reach another hidden area, the Stone Fissure Coffin, from here, but as with any FromSoftware game, it’s best to discover its secrets on your own. Appreciate!
