How to Get XP in Diablo 4
Diablo 4 is a massive game, with lots of activities that reward you with experience points. One of the ways to earn XP is by killing enemies. Although one enemy won’t give you much experience, you can easily find large groups worth fighting.
When starting the game, your main source of XP is the quests that are part of the campaign. At the same time, side quests also rewards with XP. Both activities will still lead you into fights, so you end up earning more XP than originally intended.
As you progress through the game you can run dungeons and clear fortresses, which are massive sources of experience points. These two activities are not necessarily easy and sometimes they take longer to complete than a quest. Even so, you fight so many enemies inside them, from regulars and elites to mini-bosses, that you end up receiving a lot of experience.
Diablo 4 also grants you XP by finding Altars of Lilith – which gives you 3800 experience points in World Tier 3! – complete world events happening all around Sanctuary and improve the fame system.
How to Level Up Fast in Diablo 4
While you can get XP from all of the sources shown in the previous section, it’s important to know how to use them effectively and which ones to prioritize.
The first thing to do, if you start the game, is to focus on the end of the campaign. By the end of the last act, you’ll be around level 40 or higher. However, if you want to level up quickly, you should play the campaign in world tier 2, which increases the XP you gain by 20% when killing monsters. Once the campaign is complete, you can attempt to unlock World Tier 3, which increases this XP bonus to 100%.
Once the campaign is over, you must focus on upgrading the fame system, which involves doing side quests, finding Altars of Lilith, doing dungeons, and clearing fortresses. In addition to the experience you gain from completing all of these activities, each time you level up in a region’s fame system, you are rewarded with bonus XP.
At this point, you’re already in Diablo’s endgame, so you have access to the Whispers of the Dead missions. These are also worth doing as they can help you get better gear that will make your life easier when running dungeons. On top of that, you also gain XP when you give 10 Sinister Favors to the Whisper Tree.
Now, there are two best practices you should adopt as soon as possible to level up faster. First of all, always try use elixirs when running dungeons. Elixirs can be found in the Consumables tab of the Character menu. Although they have different effects, all elixirs increase the amount of experience points you gain over a period of time.
Second, whenever you can, play with a band. Diablo 4 encourages you to call your friends to play the game by giving bonus XP when you are in a group. It’s not a game changer, but just like using elixirs, at the end of the day you will have progressed faster.
