How to Survive the Night in Dragon’s Dogma 2

dogma, Dragons, Night, Survive

A wise woman once said, “The night is long and full of terrors,” which leads me to believe that she too played Dragon’s Dogma 2 and was completely wiped out by an enraged minotaur during a night hike.

Like its predecessor, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a day and night cycle. The beautiful verdant greens of a forest and the rushing river may seem almost fanciful during the day, but come night, the trees and foliage seem like an oppressive shadow, and the river, once a wonderful distraction, now glows with light of ghostly ghosts hungry for your blood.

With all these beautiful images in mind: nighttime in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is no walk in the park and should be taken seriously.

So, without further ado, here is our detailed guide how to face the hazards of the night in Dragon’s Dogma 2And what kind of encounters can you expect.

How to Survive the Night in Dragon’s Dogma 2

While exploring the wild world of Dragon’s Dogma 2, players will venture through many unexplored territories, and thanks to the fairly huge map, sooner or later you and your party will find yourself traveling at night.

However, nighttime isn’t just the world around you that gets darker. There are a few encounters that won’t take place anywhere other than in the dark.

However, if you are looking for ways to fight and/or resist the ever-encroaching darkness, there are several ways to help you.

Use an oil lantern

If there’s one thing we can recommend, it’s using an oil lantern. When it starts to get a little dark, you’ll need to press L1 and right on the directional pad (for the PS5, anyway) to turn on your lantern and allow you to see the road.

That said, be wary of how you use your lantern. Although Dragon’s Dogma 2 is much more lenient about the amount of oil your lantern needs, it’s still good to keep a stock of lantern oil (either by crafting it or purchasing it through major cities like Vernmouth and Bettahl) so as not to end up tripping. in the dark and accidentally coming across a pack of wolves lurking at the edge of the woods.

Camping at night

Campsites are scattered throughout the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and marked on your map and mini-map as campfires. You can spot them day or night, but they will stand out especially in the dark thanks to their orange tint and the white smoke billowing into the distance.

Camping at night, however, carries its share of risks. Enemies like the undead are much more active at night and seem to come out of their usual surroundings. So, if you decide to camp overnight and sleep until morning, it is best to explore and clear the area in advance so that you can sleep undisturbed and not risk the destruction of your campsite.

Follow the roads

It may seem obvious, but remaining vigilant and staying on long, winding roads will make traversing the darkness much easier, oil lantern in hand. Not only will the roads eventually lead you to some sort of settlement, but most of the enemies you encounter on the road range from simple undead, like zombies, to reanimated skeletons.

Roads are also a great option because if you’re lucky you might find an ox cart. But be careful, if an ox cart in the dark is surrounded by blue lights instead of the orange hue of lanterns, you could find yourself headfirst into a ghost ambush.

On the way to town

If you really, really, really want to avoid traveling at night in Dragon’s Dogma 2, the best way is to head to a town and/or town. Aside from the rare occasion when a few wolves attack the entrance, most of these places are well protected by guards, and you won’t have to worry just hanging around inside the city walls.

The city also has hostels, where you can sleep until the morning. That said, sleeping in a hostel can cost money you might otherwise want to save. Luckily, there are also benches you can sit on and fall asleep. Sleepiness will progress until morning, when you can continue your journey in the light of day.

Why you should travel at night in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Nighttime is inevitable in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so even if you’re not a big fan of the dark, you’ll eventually venture into it. But it doesn’t have to be a terrifying experience, and in fact, there are many reasons why you should travel at night.

On the one hand, you will encounter different bosses at night and during the day. For example, a skeleton wizard who throws lightning and cold at you will only appear at night. The same goes for the various undead, skeletons, ghosts and the terrifying dullahan who lurks in the darkness in the forest.

Not only are these enemies a bit different from the usual fare you encounter during the day, but they also drop loot that can be sold for a reasonable amount of gold. Their most essential use, however, is crafting materials to upgrade weapons and armor, which becomes increasingly difficult as you continue to upgrade yours and your main pawn’s, so you’ll need to keep the materials in mind.

Certain materials, like Miasmite dropped by ghosts, are also essential for questlines. It is therefore always important to have materials deposited in your warehouse at the inn.
