How to Unlock Another Life in Like a Dragon Ishin
When you launch Like a Dragon: Ishin, you will notice that Another Life is greyed out in the pause menu. Don’t worry though, you won’t have to jump through any hoops to unlock the side activity, as it simply unlocks during Chapter 3 of the main story.
At some point during the main story events of Chapter 3, Ryoma is taken to the farm by a priest and basically enrolls to help Haruka pay off her debts to the farm. We estimate that it will take you around four to five hours to reach this point in Like a Dragon: Ishin if you work your way there throughout the main story.
How to expand your farm in Like a Dragon Ishin
Another life revolves around the agricultural plots which you will find just in front of the main house itself. However, there is little valuable farming space you can play with when you first start Another Life, so to maximize your farming yield, you’ll want to build additional farming plots.
Head to the shrine which is immediately to the left of the main entrance to the estate. Here you can use your accumulated Virtue to unlock features directly related to Another Life. Keep in mind that only at this shrine you can unlock features for farming mode, as you cannot unlock them at the main Kyo shrine while walking around.
If you want to quickly expand your farm, go to the “Farm” tab in the shrine menu. This is where you can unlock additional plots for relatively cheap, with new plots costing 500, 1,500, and finally 4,000 Virtue for each expansion. It is through this that you will get new agricultural plots to grow more vegetables.
Best Another Life unlocks to buy first in Like a Dragon Ishin
Along with buying new farming plots in Another Life, there’s a deluge of other unlocks available to you at Sanctuary.
In the list below, we’ll describe which are the best options to purchase at Sanctuary using your accumulated Virtue:
- Level 1 Farm Extension – 500 Virtue
- Green thumb: sweet potatoes/green onions – 100 virtues
- Green Thumb: Ginger/Onions – 150 Virtue
- Typical kitchen improvement – 300 virtues
- Level 2 Farm – 1,500 Virtues
By using these upgrades, you can give yourself the best chance of getting a good harvest using the plots you have, as well as the ability to cook more food around the house. In addition, it will give you more chances to get the vegetables and items needed for orders, which you can read below.
How to Pay Off Another Life’s Debt in Like a Dragon Ishin
The main plot of Like a Dragon: Ishin’s Another Life is obviously paying off Haruka’s debt, which is admittedly easy to forget sometimes. If you want to get started, head to the farm building itself and look in the back left corner of the room to find a cabinet.
Approach this cabinet and you’ll have the option to Fulfill Orders, sending Haruka to deliver the goods you’ve hoarded on the farm for paying customers. This is how you will pay off the huge debt that Haruka has found herself in, and in fact, this is one of the best ways to earn money in Ishin.
Pay attention to the goods you need to fulfill individual orders. If an order calls for two carrots and a potato, for example, you’ll need to plant them in the available plotting space and wait for them to yield so they’re ready to pick. When you have the desired goods for an order, return to the cabinet to fulfill the order and reap the rewards.
How to find cats and dogs for Another Life in Like a Dragon Ishin
Here’s a weird one – you can actually unlock cats and dogs for your farm in Like a Dragon: Ishin. To start, you need to go to the Farm Sanctuary and buy the options to house a cat and a dog separately. You’ll need to do this before you even think about finding the creatures and hosting them.
When you’re done with that, exit the farm and head to the point on the map we marked just below in Kyo in the Rakugai area. Be sure to be at this point during the day and you’ll see a barking dog, angering nearby residents. This is the sub story to unlock a dog for Another Life.
To complete this sub-story, all you need to do is give the dog enough bones to fill his friendship gauge. It’s actually very easy, because there’s a shop at the map point shown below (Ebisu Pawn) that sells bones for 100 Mon per pop. It takes about four bones to completely fill the dog’s friendship meter, and once that’s done, you’ll have the option to house the dog on your farm. Accomplished job.
Finally, for the chat, you will have to go to the option that we have marked on the map just below, which is in Rakugai. When here during the day, you will see a hungry cat lounging on the ground, with its stomach growling something fierce.
As you approach the cat, you’ll have the option to feed it fish as part of the Hungry Cat sub-story. Each time you feed it another fish (which can be entirely of your choosing), the cat’s friendship meter will increase, bringing it one step closer to life with Ryoma and Haruka.
The fourth time you try to feed him a fish, he will demand sea bream, one way or another. Also, the fifth and last time you need to feed the cat, you will need a whole tuna. You can buy sea bream at the Fushimi Fish Market, but you’ll have to fish in a river or seawater to catch a tuna.
Once you feed the picky cat sea bream and tuna, he will finally choose to settle on your farm. Now you will have collected a dog and a cat in Another Life, making the farm a bit more like a home.
Hope you enjoy your Another Life in Like a Dragon: Ishin!
