Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC gives us new avenues to play – several years after the game first arrived on Switch.
As part of Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass, there will be two new cups with four tracks each, giving us a total of eight courses from other Mario Kart games.
This page explains the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC Release Time – the good news is that it’s sooner than expected – and the track list for the update.

UPDATE (March 18): And we’re live! You can see a preview of the list of DLC tracks now available and datamines of what’s likely to come. While playing again, now is the time to finish getting all the remaining unlockables, including the elusive Gold Mario.
ORIGINAL GUIDE: the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC release date is Friday, March 18 officially – however, the good news is that Mario Kart 8 DLC Release Date is technically Thursday for several regions:
- UK: 11pm (GMT, Thursday)
- Europe: 12 noon (CEST, Friday)
- US East Coast: 7:00 p.m. (EDT, Thursday)
- US West Coast: 4:00 p.m. (PDT, Thursday)
That’s a few hours earlier than most Nintendo updates, which go live around 2am in the UK, the time of day in question. This means that in Europe, if you stay up until midnight, you can start playing.
Of course, it’s worth saying that those times could change – but either way, you can start preloading the update now so you can play right away.
If you’re playing in Europe, we recommend getting a full night’s sleep and starting to play in the morning as soon as you’re fully rested!
What’s included in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC update?
The March 18, 2022 DLC update focuses on Wave 1 of the Booster Course Pass, which will eventually add 48 remastered tracks from other Mario Kart games.
Wave 1 will feature the following two cups, each with four tracks:
Golden Dash Cup
- Parisian walk (Mario Kart Tour)
- Toad Circuit (Nintendo 3DS)
- Choco Mountain (Nintendo 64)
- Coconut Mall (Wii)
Lucky Cat Mug
- Tokyo Blur (Mario Kart Tour)
- Shroom Ridge (Nintendo DS)
- Celestial Garden (Game Boy Advance)
- Ninja Hideout (Mario Kart Tour)
For those who haven’t played the Mario Kart Tour mobile game, there are three tracks here that will feel new – otherwise there’s a good breakdown of tracks from across Mario Kart history, including the classic Sky Garden from Mario Kart: Super Circuit and the horror that is Choco Mountain from N64.
In addition to the above, there may be additional hotfix changes and adjustments to be discovered.
