It looks like Niantic is planning regular season events, with Pokmon Go Thanksgiving event the following from an event featuring Halloween themes in October.
In short, the event is double the amount of Stardust and XP you'll earn throughout the season, and as an extra, it has arrived with the arrival of one of the most difficult players of Pokmon – Ditto – in the wild.
If you're smart, you can make a lot of benefits with your level of coaches and grow your team the following week.
Pokmon Go Thanksgiving event – when does it end?
The Double XP Thanksgiving event went well on Wednesday, November 23 and will end one week on Wednesday, November 30 at the following times:
- UK: 12:01 am (BST)
- Europe: 1:01 am (CEST)
- East Coast US: 19:01 pm (EDT – Tuesday November 29)
- West Coast US: 16:01 am (PDT – Tuesday November 29)
It's fair to say the Halloween event actually took place a few days later than planned, so there's a chance this could be more. But don't trust – get that XP increase while you can!
Pokmon Go Thanksgiving event – all you need to know
The event actually does two things:
Stardust is used to re-emerge Power Up Pokmon, making it a valuable resource if you want to expand your Pokedex or strengthen your team to take on Gyms. Our article on how to easily get Stardust in Pokmon Go explains many ways to get it, but in short, catching Pokmon is the best way to go – and because that's one of the best ways to get XP, then both go hand-in-hand.
XP, meanwhile, is used to boost your Trainer, increasing your chances of encountering high CP and unmatched Pokmon, as well as unlocking new types of items over time. You can find it from various sources, the table below to explore.

Pokmon Go Thanksgiving – Can You Use The Lucky Egg?
One of the most important things to know is that Lucky Eggs will work twice during the Thanksgiving event, which means that instead of the usual XP increase, any XP available will be worth four times.
That's all right. Trainers will receive 4x XP when using the Lucky Egg during the festival. https://t.co/Y85zhJzu1j

This is huge, especially since using the Lucky Egg is the cornerstone of getting an XP strategy that has allowed you to use one Candy Pokmon after another – to see your person around 120,000 XP in half an hour sitting.
Here is a list of all XP increases during the event, compared to before and using Lucky Egg:

---|---|---|---|
Capture any Pokmon | 100 XP | 200 XP | 400 XP |

Whether or not you have a Green Egg, you'll still want to catch and swap as many Pokmon as possible during the season – especially if they're new at 1000 XP now (or with Lucky Egg, the XP bonus of 2000) – as well as PokeStop brushing daily to receive a Daily Bonus.
And finally – another thing to note that has to do with the event is the addition of Ditto, even though time is a factor; a new addition will almost certainly be after the event is over, so don't swear it if you fail to catch it soon.
