How to Beat the Two Blast Furnace Giants in Resident Evil 4
Here is our strategy to beat the two giants at the blast furnace:
Preparing for the fight of the two giants
While there’s an easy method to defeating the two giants, it’s best to be prepared if the fight doesn’t go your way.
Much like the battle with El Gigante at the Quarry, we recommend bringing the TMP, but if you have the CQBR Assault Rifle unlocked and enough rifle ammo, that’s a much better option! You get the best from the Bolt Action Rifle and the TMP, but its downside is the lack of ammo available, so make the shots count if you don’t have the resources to do more. pomegranates
If you happen to have fish, eggs, or vipers to spare in your inven tory, you should also make sure you have charms equipped that increase your healing from those sources. However, the charms are random rewards from the shooting range, so you might not get a heal until the two giants fight.
If you don’t have these items or charms, we recommend purchasing a first aid spray from the merchant if you can afford it. The merchant refreshes his supply of First Aid Spray fairly regularly throughout the game, so if you have room (and don’t mind spending the money) it’s always good to have some extra healing in a boss fight.
Phase 1 – fight the unarmored giant strategy
As with most bosses, the first thing you’ll want to do is go around the blast furnace area and smash all the boxes and barrels for ammo, health items, and crafting resources. Their content is random, so you’ll get different items if you die and try the fight again.
Leave the armored giant to Luis to shoot for now. It does a good job of acting as a distraction while you take on the unarmoured giant.
You can either use the same method you fought El Gigante with, which damages the giant until a parasite pops out of its back, then hit the knife prompt near it to slash the parasite (or unload all your power hits on the parasite while the giant is down).
Grenades can help take down the giant earlier, but we managed to damage the unarmored giant enough by getting headshots with our Red9 handgun on Standard difficulty.
Alternatively, you can attack the unarmored giant until its parasite comes out, then damage the parasite while the unarmored giant is on or partially on the grid in the middle. When the giant is down, you must then run to the switch and hold the button to drop the giant into the lava.
Phase 2 – fight the armored giant strategy
Once the unarmored giant is dead, it’s time to focus on the armored boss.
The trick to beat the armored giant at the blast furnace is similar to the lava trick mentioned above.
You have to run and get hits in its unshielded parts until Luis runs away. He’ll come back soon with dynamite and tie it to the giant’s back, when you can fire the dynamite to take down the giant and expose his parasite.
We recommend you shoot the dynamite on the giant’s back around the circular grid in the middle of the roomso when he falls you can run to the switch and use it to open the grate and kill the giant by dropping him into the lava below.
If you don’t want to do it that way, you can attack the parasite on the armored giant’s back with your strongest weapons instead when he’s downed after shooting the dynamite. This way you get treasure for defeating him.
Our Resident Evil 4 walkthrough can help you through the village with guides on the Large and Small Cave Shrine puzzle solutions, the Church Dial puzzle, and the Del Lago, El Gigante, and Méndez bosses. When you reach the castle, you must tackle the treasure sword, the four-slot wall, the dining hall bell and the exact time of the grandfather clock, as well as the dungeon Garrador, to two giants and to the bosses of Ramón Salazar. The island is next, and there are still puzzles with calibration puzzles, keycard locations and a hidden key, as well as the final bosses Krauser and Sadler.
Fight the two giants in Hardcore or Professional strategy
Everything we recommended above for taking on the two giants on Standard difficulty applies to fighting them on Hardcore and Professional, except for a few additions:
- Make sure to create a manual save right before the fight if you are playing pro, as there is no auto save.
- If you can’t get a good angle on the parasites, shoot the giants right in the face.
- Grenades are of greater help in taking down the unarmored giant.
- Giants are much more aggressive and get up faster when downed – so stay close when you see one coming down to stab it, or pull out a long-range weapon to shoot the parasite if you’re too far away (if not in using the lava trick).
Good luck taking on the two giants at the blast furnace!
