The Best Abilities of Star Wars Outlaws
Every expert has at least one skill worth learning over the course of Kay’s adventure. We’ve covered some of the best basic skills elsewhere, so feel free to check them out if you’re new to Star Wars Outlaws.
Bram the Bartender’s Best Abilities
Bram’s skills cover a wide range of basic combat and exploration abilities, and they’re all worth acquiring as soon as possible.
- Armored bodysuit (Increases Kay’s health by 1)
- I know someone (Unlocks trade requests with certain merchants)
- Quick chat (Let Kay distract a single enemy aware of his presence)
- Keep talking (Apply Fast Talk to multiple enemies)
Selo the Mechanic’s Best Abilities
Selo’s abilities are a bit mixed, though she does teach a few essential ones.
- Smoke grenade (Use it to create a cloud of smoke and distract enemies or block lines of sight)
- The scoundrel’s purse (Let Kay carry an extra grenade and an extra Bacta vial)
- Outlaw’s Exchange (Let Kay carry an extra grenade and an extra Bacta vial in addition to the Scoundrel’s Pouch expansion)
Aila the Slicer’s Best Abilities
Aila’s default skill, Slicing Kit, is essential, but she also has a handful of other great abilities to teach Kay.
- Light feet (Passive ability that allows Kay to move more silently while walking and sprinting)
- Concussion grenade (Adds a stagger effect to Kay’s smoke grenade)
- Sneaky trap (Nix can set a trap on the alarms that will kill enemies that attempt to use them)
Temmin the Scavenger’s Best Abilities
Temmin is a great reason to visit Akiva as soon as you leave Toshara, if only to get the Electro Prod.
- Electroshock prod (Let Kay perform stealth takedowns on elite enemies)
- Survivor (Increases Kay’s maximum health by 1)
Scavenger Shoes increase Kay’s movement while crouching. You can complete most stealth fights without them, but if movement speed is constantly getting you caught, consider unlocking this skill as well.
Quint the Gunslinger’s Best Abilities
Most of Quint’s skills are useful, but not essential, although unlocking his adrenaline-driven abilities makes overcoming difficult encounters much easier.
- The Plus (Kay can target an additional enemy during Adrenaline Rush)
- The best (Kay can target elites twice during Adrenaline Rush, so they die after performing her attack)
MT-7 Veteran Best Capabilities
The same goes for MT-7, whose skills make some situations easier to handle, but don’t necessarily justify the time and materials required to unlock them – except for one.
- Adapt (Kay instantly recovers more health when using a Bacta Vial)
Lando the High Roller’s Best Abilities
Besides his default Sabacc sneaky ability, Lando has three other interesting abilities that give you a huge advantage in combat.
- Shoot first (Kay’s first shot that triggers a battle deals bonus damage)
- Ask later (Hip-firing for a few seconds after drawing the blaster will generate adrenaline with each shot)
- Just improvise (After Kay performs Fast Talk, she gains enough adrenaline to perform an Adrenaline Rush attack)
Teeka the Hotfixer’s Best Abilities
Teeka’s abilities are very situational, but if you’re playing Sabacc or find yourself often running low on credits, you’ll want to pick up a couple.
- Magnetic dice (A cheat that allows Kay to manipulate dice rolls when playing an Impostor card in Kessel Sabacc)
- M’gasha (Merchants sell 10 percent less, and Kay gets 10 percent more when she sells valuable items)
Mercenary Rooster’s Best Abilities
Rooster’s skills seem a bit redundant, mostly because they are. His default skill is handy if you’re using abandoned Imperial weapons, though with the better blaster upgrades you won’t need to do this often.
That said, you could do worse than unlocking:
- Let’s test the waters (Doubles the range at which Nix can detect enemies)
How to Unlock Abilities in Star Wars Outlaws
Kay learns new skills from experts She finds on each planet, including a splicer, a mechanical genius, a deadly droid, and a certain rogue that might be familiar to longtime Star Wars fans. Finding the first two experts and unlocking their initial abilities is something you have to do before leaving Toshara for the first time, so you can’t miss them.
The rest, however, is a different story. Finding new experts usually involves completing a planet’s main quest, or the first part of it, and following a new intelligence chain that unlocks afterward. These short quests lead you to a new expert, who has their own quest to complete before you can finally access their skills.
Learning new abilities requires materials in most cases, such as polycarbonate or durasteel, though some require Kay to perform certain moves in combat or while traveling.
Good luck on your space journey in Star Wars Outlaws!
