MultiVersus is the all-new party brawler that brings in fighters from iconic WB franchises like Batman, Scooby Doo and Adventure Time.
While MultiVersus is certainly more accessible than some of its competitors, there are a handful of characters that will be particularly difficult to get to grips with early on.
Instead, you should focus on a small selection of much more beginner-friendly fighters. These usually have simpler move sets that allow you to learn the flow of the game without losing too often. here is the best MultiVersus fighters for beginner players.

Best MultiVersus Fighters for Beginners
When choosing a fighter in MultiVersus, you won’t have access to the full roster at first. Instead, there are only a few characters to choose from, and additional fighters must be purchased with coins. From this original selection, we recommend picking Superman.
As you work your way through the starting challenges, you’ll easily earn enough coins to buy another fighter. Once you have collected 2000 coins, you must choose Harley Quinn or Shaggy. More details can be found on each fighter below. For the moment, the following fighters are best for MultiVersus beginners:
- Superman – Tank/Hybrid
- Harley Quinn – Assassin/Vertical (must spend 2000 coins to unlock)
- Shaggy – Bruiser/Hybrid (must spend 1500 coins to unlock)
If you choose any of these three fighters when you debut in MultiVersus, you can take on the competition while learning the ropes. Let’s take a closer look at why each is such a good choice for beginners.
Superman’s moveset in MultiVersus explained
Superman is our top pick for the best beginner fighter in MultiVersus. For one, he’s available from the start, which means you’ll be able to jump straight into the fray after loading up the game. The reason Superman is such a good fighter to start with is that he’s extremely good in short scope. He’s a tank character, which means he takes a lot of damage to cast, allowing you to deal damage and dodge enemies without having to worry about being knocked down on the stage.
Superman’s special attacks are also particularly forgiving and are great options for learning the differences between air special attacks and ground attacks. The special side spawns a small reticle that can target enemies and can even be used to quickly move around the map. The side attack is the real star here, as Superman delivers a flurry of blows that can seriously stagger opponents. This can also be charged, and if it connects correctly, it’s a great option for sending enemies flying.
Finally, even though Superman is a tank destroyer, he also has decent mobility. His jumps are high and many of his specials will also take you on a journey across the stage. There aren’t too many moves to learn here, and if dealing damage is your game, you really can’t beat Superman as a top pick.
Harley Quinn Moveset Explained in MultiVersus
Now let’s move on to one of the unlockable characters in MultiVersus. Harley Quinn will cost you 2000 coins to unlock, but you should consider doing this as soon as possible. The main reason for this is that Harley is extremely fast, able to move through the air and on the ground. Many of his moves, including the special Prank Shot side, have some kind of trick element to them. This attack can act as a dodge, before Harley throws a boxing glove behind her. Just by dodging and moving around the scene, you’ll rack up damage and leave your opponents open to easier attacks.
Like Superman, Harley also has an excellent side attack that unleashes a flurry of moves in quick succession. The great thing about Harley is that she ends with an upward swing, sending enemies flying through the air, perfect for follow-up hits. Just using this combo as a setup will deal tons of extra damage and without having to invest too much time.
Harley Quinn’s speed is perfect for newcomers, as it lets you jump and weave in and out of fights, and also provides great recovery when you’re knocked offstage. Consider unlocking Harley with the coins you earn from completing starter quests.

Shaggy moveset in MultiVersus explained
Finally, we have Shaggy, who is arguably MultiVersus’ current MVP. It will take 1500 coins to unlock, but its simple yet deep moveset is pretty hard to beat right now. Shaggy is a deadly fighter, specializing in close combat. However, it is also a hybrid type, in that its special down gives you a sandwich projectile that can be thrown.
Shaggy is perfect for beginners, mainly because of its easy to understand promotions. The side special is a kind of flying kick that has a large hitbox, and the neutral special can be used to recharge Shaggy’s power once you have some space. As you level up Shaggy, you will be able to unlock the One Last Zoinks perk. This automatically activates Rage Mode once it reaches 100 damage. It can really help turn the tide in combat.
New players will quickly be able to grasp Shaggy’s basic move set and can do massive damage in the air. Consider unlocking Shaggy once you collect coins at the start of the game.
