Pokémon Scarlet and Purple are the latest installments in this popular video game series for Nintendo Switch.
These releases not only presented us with a new region to explore inspired by Spain, but also new and unique Pokémon to capture.
In this article we will tell you which of these Pokémon are the rarest and most difficult to find in this new adventure.
Lycanroc Twilight Form in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple
Lycanroc is a Rock-type Pokémon that evolves from Rockruff into one of three forms: daytime, nighttime, and twilight. The latter is particularly difficult to find in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple.
The reason for this is that the Rockruff to be evolved must have the Own Rhythm ability, which in itself will be a difficult task. Additionally, players will need to evolve Rockruff specifically in the afternoon.
The good news is that Rockruffs that have this ability can’t evolve day or night. This means that once you get it, all you need is to gain experience with your Pokemon to evolve into Lycanroc Twilight Form during the afternoon.
Slakoff
It is one of the most talked about Pokémon in the entire franchise, as it has had an unexpected role in many ways.
Slakoff is a Generation III Pokémon that returned in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple. However, it is very difficult to find it in all of Paldea. There are players who only find a Slakoff after weeks of play, while others claim to have never seen one.
Your best option is to look for it in areas with trees, as that is where this species lives. Your chances of finding it will be even higher during mass Pokemon spawns, but you’ll still need luck. It is advisable to search for it in areas one, two and five.
The Tauros variants of Paldea
Those of us who grew up playing Pokémon would never think of Tauros as one of the hardest creatures to find. However, Paldea’s Tauros variant is a very different case from what we knew so far.
Paldea Tauros in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple can have three “forms” that affect its types. These are the following:
- Variety of fighting-type fighters
- Fiery variety of combat and fire types
- Aquatic variety of Fighting and Water type
The most common of these variants is the Fighting type, and this is the one you will encounter most often (especially in the Eastern and Western provinces). However, its fiery and aquatic variants are harder to find.
These variants are the “exceptions”, so you will have to look for some of them among Paldea’s Tauros battle packs. Also, they won’t be in the mass Pokemon spawns, so you won’t be able to take advantage of this event. And it will be even harder to get their Shiny variants.
Maushold, the family of three Pokémon Scarlet and Purple
Maushold is one of the adorable mice first introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple. However, it has a peculiarity that makes it one of the most difficult Pokémon to catch.
Maushold is the evolution of Tandemaus, a close-knit pair of mice. When these evolve, they can become a family of three or four depending on the luck of the player.
The trick is that Tandemaus has a 99% chance of evolving into Maushold Family of Four, and only a 1% chance of becoming Maushold Family of Three. With that alone, we can already see how difficult it is to get this Pokémon, since only a few could have it without having to evolve to 100 Tandemaus or more.
However, there is a tactic if you want Maushold Family of Three, as it sometimes spawns as a boss in four-star raids. This is a great opportunity to capture it and add it to your PokéDex. However, getting the Shiny variant will be one of your toughest Pokemon Scarlet and Purple tasks.
Dudunsparce Trinodular form
Another of the most curious and difficult Pokémon to obtain in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple is Dudunsparce, especially in one of its forms.
This Normal-type Pokémon can evolve from Dunsparce into Binodular and Trinodular forms. But like the previous case, it has a 99% chance of acquiring the binodular form, and only 1% of evolving into the trinodular form.
But unlike before, Trinodular Dudunsparce won’t appear as a raid boss, so you’ll have to evolve it. The way to do this is to capture a lot of Dunsparce, teach them the Hyper Drill move, and level them up. You will need to repeat this process about 100 times before you find a Dudunsparce trinodular shape. And another hundred times more if what you want is the Shiny variant.
Belief The Authentic Form
For Pokemon Sword and Shield players, it will come as no surprise to see that Siniestea is also one of the most difficult creatures to obtain in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
This Ghost-type Pokemon comes in two forms, one fake and one genuine. 99% of the Sinistea you encounter will be fake, as well as 100% of the ones you get in Raids or through breeding. Mass spawns and sandwich powers won’t work to increase your chances either.
The difficulty is increased due to the difficulty in distinguishing genuine and counterfeit forms of Siniestea. The only mark they have is a seal of authenticity on the base, so you won’t be able to tell them apart with just a glance.
If you want a genuine Forma Sinistea, you’ll need to be very careful when scouting, constantly adjusting your camera angle to check if any have the seal. Another method is to capture every Sinistea you see and try to use the broken teapot on each one. If one evolves into Polteageist, that means it was an authentic form.
