Friday has arrived again and to start the last day of the week, nothing better than working on Connections response for today, July 12.

If you’ve never played it, Connections challenges you to sort a group of 16 words into four groups where all the words are well… connected. This connection could come from the fact that they share a similar meaning, are part of a place name, objects found in a kitchen, or anything else really!

Although it may seem easy, the connection groups each have a different level of difficulty – yellow being the easiest and purple being the most difficult. For this reason, practice Today’s Login Response This can be quite complicated. You may get one group right away, but another may be a mystery to you. Luckily, we are here to help!

Originally developed at the New York Times’ annual game jam, Connections was released in beta in June 2023. It has since become one of the most popular games featured by the NYTimes, second only to Worlde. Although some connections have been made to the BBC’s Only Connect program…

Hint for today’s Connections answer

Instead of jumping straight to the answer, let’s start with some clues for today’s Connections riddle:

  • YELLOW – Places within the school.
  • Green – Ways to place a bet while playing roulette.
  • Blue – Think of Dove.
  • Purple – Words that go well with Goose.
  • Gym belongs to the yellow group, Odd to the green and Peace to the blue.

Remember: yellow is the easiest group to find, followed by green and blue, with purple being the hardest set of words to connect.

Connections response for July 12

Without further ado, here is Connections’ response for today:

  • School facilities – Auditorium, Gymnasium, Laboratory, Library.
  • Paris roulette – Black, even, odd, red.
  • Associated with “Colombe” – Chocolate, Peace, Pigeon, Soap.
  • ___Goose – Golden, Gray, Mother, Idiot.

In this connect the dots puzzle, we start back to school. The yellow group is really one of the best to find first because the facilities are so different from the other words. The second group I found was blue. I love Dove chocolate. Finding the other Dove related words wasn’t that hard after that initial clue. To find the other two groups, I had to try a few combinations. I don’t know enough about roulette bets to remember them when I see red and black. But, I got all four groups in the end!

What to play after Connections?

The obvious answer to this question is Wordle, but if you’ve already solved that problem today, the New York Times has other games to offer. As for word-based games, the NYTimes offers Mini Crossword, Spelling Bee, Letter Boxed, and Strands, which is still in beta. If you feel like taking a break from words, you can also try Tiles — a pattern-matching game — or Sudoku.

Outside of the NYTimes, there is Semantle, where you have to find the secret word by guessing its meaning. Spelling doesn’t matter in Semantle, instead you have to pay attention to the numerical value of your guesses to plot your way to the answer. If you prefer to stick to the Connections format, however, then it’s worth checking out Puzzgrid. There are hundreds of Connections-style puzzles there, but with only three minutes to solve them.
