How to Unlock the M16 in Warzone 2.0
Unlocking weapons in Warzone 2.0 is similar to Modern Warfare 2, and as such different from previous titles.
Several weapons, such as the M16, are now unlocked by using and leveling up weapons within families called “platforms”.
In the case of the M16, you must use the 556 Icarus up to level 12. To unlock the Icarus to do this, you need to level the M4 to level 15. Quite a process!
Once unlocked, you’ll be ready to start leveling up the M16 to open up its customization options – it’s best to use the M16 for a few matches to level it up and unlock its attachment slots.
It should be noted that many attachments are unlocked by leveling up other weapons, both inside and outside the M4 platform.
Plus, if you own the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2, you’re actually a step ahead of that process thanks to the FJX Cinder Bundle – with this bundle, you’ll have access to all unlocked attachments and weapons in the platform. -M4 shape.
Warzone 2.0 M16 best loadout and attachments
Since the M16 is a medium to long range weapon, the focus of our recommended M16 build is to reinforce its dominant forces in line of sight.
Below is our recommended M16 build for Warzone 2.0:
- Optical: SZ SRO-7 (unlocks at M16 Lv. 11) / Hybrid Firepoint (unlocks at Lachmann-762 Lv. 14)
- Store: Corio Price Factory (unlocks at M4 level 7)
- Rear handle: XTEN Grip (unlocks at M4 level 16)
- Sub-barrel: Pineapple VX (unlocks at 556 Icarus Lv. 14)
- Ammunition: 5.56 Frangible (unlocks at Lachmann-556 Lv. 8) / 5.56 Armor Piercing (unlocks at M4 Lv. 9) / Magazine: 45-Round Mag (unlocks at M4 Lv. 5)
For optics, we direct you to a few options: the SZ SRO-7 is best for long-range engagements, especially where there is cover and corners to climb for stability, whereas the Hybrid fire point is suitable for a mix of encounters, especially effective if you change sight lines a lot, as you can switch between close range and long range options on the fly.
Regarding the stock, there are two options: the Leather Factory Price is a good shout when it comes to longer sightlines thanks to its aiming stability and recoil control bonuses. It does affect mobility though, but that’s where our alternative comes in.
Sacrificing some weapon stability for several buffs to aiming, sprinting, crouching, and aiming aiming speed (ADS), the Ravage-8 is the perfect opposite, a good alternate choice for mobile playstyles.
For rear grip, the XTEN handle is practical thanks to its bonuses to ADS and sprint-to-fire speed. If paired with the aforementioned Corio Precio Factory stock, you’ll be able to compensate for this grip’s reduced recoil control, or you can double the mobility if paired with the Ordnance Ravage-8.
Being able to mount a wall for an attack isn’t always an option, but with the sub-cannon VX Pineapple, you will have increased control over the recoil of the M16. This is especially useful when paired with longer range scopes, where the kick of the gun is even more noticeable.
As for our fifth and final recommended attachment, we’re looking at ammo or magazine slots – since you’re likely going to take down more enemies from a distance, potentially those in cover, 5.56 Fragile bullets are a good shout, as they temporarily delay an enemy’s healing ability.
As an effective alternative, you can opt for 5.56 Armor Piercing rounds for their bonus bullet penetration and extra damage against vehicles – something much more common in Warzone 2.0.
If you’d rather increase your ammo than improve some aspects of the M16’s ballistics, you can take the 45 round magazine in the magazine slot – although this would hamper movement and overall handling speed, having extended reserves with 15 extra rounds per magazine not only helps for larger game modes, but also for passive play .

Warzone 2.0 M16 best class build, perk set and gear
Here are the recommended perks and gear to create the best M16 class in Warzone 2.0:
- Benefits package: Vanguard (unlocks at level 1)
- Secondary: .50 GS (unlocks at level 13) / X13 Auto (unlocks at X12 level 10)
- Deadly: Semtex (unlocks at level 20)
- Tactical: Shock Stick (unlocks at level 1) / Spotter Scope (unlocks at level 1)
For the Perk Package of this class, we recommend choosing Avant-gardegranting you the Double Time, Bomb Squad, Resupply, and High Alert perks.
While the M16’s range of attachments aims to bolster its stability and make it more effective at longer ranges, moving between lines of sight will be a necessity as the circle closes during Warzone matches, so that the doubled tactical sprint duration and increased crouch movement speed provided by Double time is an essential boost to have.
For the second advantage of this package, Mine Squad will help keep you grounded and alive in desired vantage points with its reduced damage you will take from player-initiated explosions. It also resets the fuse of active grenades when you pick them up, allowing you to return to the sender with a good old nade throw.
Speaking of grenades, the third perk of this preset selection, Replenishmentwill grant you an extra lethal grenade from the start and provide a constantly regenerating 30 second timer to regain your lethal and tactical gear.
For the “ultimate benefit”, High alert is what you’ll get, letting you know when enemies spot you, getting you and your team covered by any players who might have the drop on you.
For your secondary weapon, although there is always the choice to hang any pistol of your choice on the ground, you can either choose the .50GS Where Car X13 handguns – the former hits harder, but the latter gives you a bit more flexibility when it comes to a backup with a faster rate of fire.
For your death Semtex is the one we found paired well with the M16 – sticking enemies with grenades is not only satisfying but also allows for more intentionality compared to a typical frag grenade, which often rolls or bounces etc, resulting in a bet to death.
An effective pairing for Semtex in the tactical slot is the shock stickwhich sticks to surfaces, electrocutes enemies and destroys equipment.
They’re good for surprising oncoming enemies for a quick ambush, or opening them up for a soft, sticky Semtex kill.
That said, you can instead swap out the Shock Stick and opt for the Viewing Rangeallowing you to spot and mark enemies from a distance – with its ability to switch between a standard and thermal imaging mode, you’ll be able to perform reconnaissance or simply pinpoint enemy locations better.
Since one of the goals of this loadout was to be flexible at different ranges, there’s more freedom through which you can customize and enhance every aspect of it to your liking, so feel free to mix and match the different options available.
