Echoes are a type of equipment that can be used by all of your Resonators in Wuthering Waves. Similar to Artifacts in Genshin Impact, Echoes provide useful stat boosts, have set bonuses called Sonata Effects, and each has its own Echo ability. Although they have a more Pokémon summoning vibe combined with Final Fantasy rather than just being a magic pot or feather.

You can even find glowing echoes, called ghost echoes, which have different designs than other echoes. Yes, just like shiny Pokémon!

There’s a lot to know about Echoes – from the cost and class ranking system to the sonata effects to how they relate to the Data Dock. For this reason, it’s a good idea to learn as much as possible to ensure you get the most out of this mechanic.

In the meantime, let’s start with an overview of how to use echoes in Wuthering Waves…

Echo Ability: How to Use Echoes in Wuthering Waves

Knowing how to use Echoes is essential in Wuthering Waves, as each has a unique Echo ability, provides large stat boosts, and can contribute to Sonata Effects – the in-game term for set bonuses.

The first step to using an Echo is to equip it by visiting the Echo section of the Character Overview menus. Here you can either choose which Echoes to equip or use the “Auto-Equip” feature to have the game do it for you. Although “Auto Equip” may not provide your ideal setup, it can be very useful if you want to test a new resonator.

Each resonator can be equipped with a maximum of five echoes. Since your team is made up of three Resonators, this means you can equip up to 15 Echoes in total in your team. However, when equipping Echoes it is important to remember that each has a cost and you can not exceed the cost limit of a resonator.

Each resonator has a cost limit – starting at 8 before increasing to 10 and, when you reach data station level 9, increasing to 12. During this time, each echo has a cost ranging from one four according to class. As mentioned, echoes equipped with a resonator can not have their Combined cost exceeds cost limit. This means that you cannot equip three Echoes with a Cost of four when your Cost Limit is 10 for example. Instead, you need to find a balance between the types of Echo you use to ensure you benefit from a range of stat boots and Echo abilities.

On the subject of echo capabilities, always remember that you can only use the echo ability of the one equipped in the first slot. Despite this, your Resonator will still benefit from any equipped Echo stat boosts and, if conditions are met, Sonata effects as well.

Each type of echo has its own ability, which can range from healing to turning your resonator into an echo for a short period of time. Remember to keep the Echo ability cooldown in mind when using them!

As mentioned before, you can have three Resonators on your team at once. This means you will always have access to three echo abilities. Fortunately, a number of echo abilities remain active even when you change resonators. This can be very useful if, for example, you use an echo ability that improves ATK, but realize that a different resonator is better suited to your enemy because you can change resonators without having to worry about losing the increased ATK.

Good luck using Echoes in Wuthering Waves!
