Complete the Side Quest “Runaway Horse” is a must if you plan to go horse riding in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. If you do not complete this quest, you will be traveling by echo or on foot for a long time.
Luckily, you can actually complete the “Runaway Horse” side quest fairly early on in your Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom adventure. However, you will need to know where to find the runaway horse if you want to help Hyrule Ranch.

How to start Runaway Horse in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
You must visit Hyrule Ranch to begin the “Runaway Horse” side quest in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. The ranch is located in Hyrule Field, southwest of Hyrule Castle Town. To begin the quest itself, you must speak to the man to the left of the farm.
It’s actually possible to visit Hyrule Ranch fairly early in the game, as you can enter Hyrule Field after completing Suthorn Ruins. Simply head north through Suthorn Meadow. Once in Hyrule Field, head west until you reach the ranch. Be sure to use the stamp collecting booth while you’re there!

The “Runaway Horse” side quest in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom begins with the old man explaining that the ranch is unable to lend out mounts at the moment, as one of their horses has run away. He will ask you to return the horse to the ranch if you happen to see it. You can still ride horses on the ranch, but you’re leaving on one of them, so we’d better find that runaway horse pretty quickly…
THE A runaway horse can be found near a lake west of Hyrule Ranch.The good news is that the lake isn’t far from the ranch – just walk southwest to find it. The bad news is that the horse managed to get stuck on a small island in the middle of the island.
We retrieved the horse by placing an Echo Trampoline on one of the lower levels of the island before using Bind on the horse. Then all we had to do was use the Trampoline to bounce upwards to the mainland.
Once the horse is rescued, mount it and return to Hyrule Ranch. Once there, be sure to return the horse to the man who gave you the “Runaway Horse” side quest to get your rewards.
Runaway Horse Rewards in Zelda Echoes of Wisdom
By completing the side quest “Runaway Horse” in Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you will unlock the ability to rent a horse for free at Hyrule Ranch.
This means that you can ride any horse you want on Hyrule Ranch. Well, except for the white horse. If you want to ride this steed, you must complete the side quest “Impa’s Gift”.
The downside to rental horses is that you can’t call them to your location. Instead, you must either revisit Hyrule Ranch for another horse or return to where you left off. Despite this, rental horses are still great for quickly traversing Hyrule and jumping over small gaps.
