Tonight, Microsoft released its financial results for the second fiscal quarter of 2022. Results showing $51.7 billion in revenue and an impressive $18.8 billion in net income. On the gambling side, overall activity is up 8% compared to the same period last year.
After announcing the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, financial results were expected from Microsoft. The company just released them, and the announced amounts are not surprising stratosphere. Between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2021, Microsoft just saw a 20% increase in revenue and a 21% increase in net income compared to the same period last year. This gain represents 28% of the amount budgeted for the Activision-Blizzard acquisition.
In terms of Xbox, content and services revenue grew 10% in continuity with a very strong year. This increase is due to growth around first-party game sales and the increase in Game Pass subscribers. However, a decline in revenue from the sale of titles from third-party publishers is slowing down this progress somewhat. Xbox hardware earnings are up 4%. This is being driven by demand for the Xbox Series X and S, which remains much higher than the Redmond company’s production.
As a reminder, Game Pass has surpassed 25 million subscribers as announced by Microsoft last week. Xbox Series sales are estimated at 12 million units, with a record month in December in the UK.
