World of Tanks Blitz is celebrating a decade with 180 million registered players and over one billion USD in revenue since release.
Word of Tanks Blitz launched a decade ago as a mobile-only game with eight maps and three tank nations.
Since then, it has become a successful AAA title and has been released on macOS, Windows 10, Steam, and Nintendo Switch, creating a full cross-play and cross-progression ecosystem for tank lovers.
Over the years, World of Tanks Blitz has experienced steady growth as the MS-1 team has continuously implemented player feedback, improved graphical quality and performance, while also creating in-game events and forging key partnerships.
Today, the project has more than 500 historical and fictional tanks, eleven game modes and more than 30 maps played by 180 million players around the world.
“While working on World of Tanks Blitz, one of the most important lessons we learned was that you can’t set any boundaries. This allowed the team to transform a rather niche, slow-paced tank gameplay into a fun and engaging experience that appeals to a wider audience,” said Thaine Lyman, General Manager at MS-1 Studio, Wargaming.
“While our players celebrate this major milestone, we have already begun implementing all of the ambitious plans we have for the coming decade.”
World of Tanks Blitz has planned a whole summer of in-game festivities to make the birthday party even bigger.
June has already started with a special birthday event where players can win a brand new Tier VIII and popular Tier X tanks.
Otherwise, players can receive a special celebration container containing the Blasteroid tank, a themed avatar, and a profile background until June 30th.
There’s a space-themed party in July that brings back the Objective: Sheridan Missile event featuring the Sheridan Missile Tank. Players can also look forward to a special collaboration with a world-famous sci-fi film franchise, taking the party all the way to the cosmos.
In August, the player-favorite Mad Games event returns for ten days, along with the highly anticipated Seniority Awards.
Tankers can also look forward to an absolutely epic (and secret) end-of-the-celebration gift that will appropriately mark a decade of virtual tank battles.
World of Tanks Blitz has a very special surprise in store especially for Germany: During the birthday celebration, well-known influencers from Germany will stream the game in teams of two on their channels and collect points for the respective team together with their community.
Participants from the community can win various in-game goodies. In August there will be a final tournament in which all teams take part.
