2v8 mode returns with updated gameplay in Dead by Daylight.
Behavior Interactive announces that Dead by Daylight’s 2v8 game mode is returning with a new release November 12-26, 2024.
With each new version of 2v8, planned updates are combined with community feedback to offer players an ever-evolving experience with deeper content and fine-tuned gameplay. The second iteration of the popular mode goes beyond introducing new characters and maps and focuses on increasing the entertainment factor for both killers and survivors.
Controlled chaos
Although the 2v8 game mode celebrated its debut just a few months ago, the development team is now releasing a second version. Fast, iterative design was always part of the plan for this complex and chaotic mode, as well as the intention to stay close to the player.
“The team was incredibly excited by the community’s response to the original version of 2v8,” said Dead by Daylight Product Director Justin Brown.
“Part of the reason we’re releasing this second iteration at this time is because we just want to get it back into the hands of players. We don’t want people to have to wait six months to play again, and we don’t want to wait another six months for further feedback. We hope we can continue this approach in the future.”
Growing possibilities
The design team already knew that more content would be needed to fully expand the mode. While all survivors were available, there was nothing at the premiere of the 2v8 mode only a limited number of killers and maps, which the team has now expanded.
In addition to the Trapper, the Ghost, the Hillbilly, the Nurse, and the Huntress, Killer players can now also team up as the Blight, the Specter, and the Herald of Death. There were also new maps for the worlds Yamaoka Estate and Glenvale Grave for 2v8 adapted, along with some other new maps for the mode’s existing worlds.
Survivor Updates
A big advantage of 2v8
Each Survivor class (Escape Professional, Guide, Doctor, Scout) now has access to two unique skills. The unlock skills have been improved and now offer a unique talent associated with each of the Survivor classes. Each class can unlock its talent after being sent into a cage, allowing players to perform game-changing actions at crucial moments.
Active abilities recharge over a certain period of time and can e.g. B. the ability to right or repair broken pallets or provide speed advantages for teammates. When abilities are charged, they can also be used to recover from death status and allow a survivor to get up from the ground as many times as necessary.
New killer classes
Killers can now choose between four different classes, each offering advantages in a different aspect of the hunt. Not only is this intended to help players improve their preferred playstyle even further, but it also creates a standardized format that will make it easier for designers to add more killers to the mode in the future.
The four killer classes are:
- Shadow – Encourages sneaking up on survivors, preventing escape attempts, and cooperation, which increases the element of surprise.
- blank – Are an unstoppable force in chases.
- Enforcer -Take advantage of survivors’ weaknesses and injuries.
- Scaremongers – Focuses on moving around the map and remaining unseen to help your partner hunt.
The latest version of the 2v8 game mode is in Dead by daylight available from November 12th to 26th, 2024.
