As I did with the previous episode, this time I decided to create this simple list of tips so you can complete Commander Jax’s final adventure and his crusade against the Celestials alive. First of all, if you haven’t already, I recommend reading our review of the game, as there are a few keys you could use to find out.
On this occasion and as I did the previous time, I will give you 5 additional tips so that your adventure is not so tortuous. You can add them to the previous 5, since they complement each other well. Keep in mind that Elex 2 is a difficult game and can be overwhelming for new players, which is the reason for this article. If you’re a “bare-chested Spartan,” you might also find some of these useful.
Tip 1: Complete Elex 2 side quests
Yes I know that sounds like a truism but the truth is that this game is based on a very marked progression system, if you don’t level up you are going to have a hell of a time in Magalan so every experience point that you are able to add, will help you not to be blatantly humiliated at the start of the game by biters and other minor enemies in the game.
Side missions are essential here, as they grant a lot of experience and also they are really well made and fun. They delve into the plot of the game, so you won’t see the usual nonsensical racing quests found in most Western RPGs.
There are also Elexit potions that increase your experience, check your inventory if necessary to be able to see and use them. I insist, the first 15 hours of play are the hardest and in which you have to level up the most.
Tip 2: Learn chemistry
Depending on the difficulty level you choose, Elex 2 won’t have many potions. Maybe this installment is more player-friendly than the original first game, but there’s always the chance that you’ll need it and go just for them. Look around carefully and try not to steal them, because you can be in big trouble if you get caught.
However, there is something that is not overflowing anymore, the ingredients. So I recommend you to unlock the chemistry skill as soon as it becomes available (I won’t do spoilers). Thanks to it, you can create your own potions, remedies and more. Having chemistry or not having it can greatly determine the pace of your game.
Tip 3: Lose yourself looking for portals and save a lot
Although Elex 2 has its own auto-save system, the truth is that its high degree of difficulty can leave you stuck when you need it most. So, first of all, I recommend that you save as many times as possible. You will need it, believe me.
Also, and although this might again seem like one of the most basic tips, getting lost on the map and unlocking portals to teleport is vital to being able to move from one place to another without problems. The world of Elex 2 is vast and it is also full of dangers that can give you headaches.
Tip 4: Invest in specialization
Although in the game Piranha Bytes you can create your own character and adapt it according to your own tastes, the truth is that if you specialize it in a class you will be much more effective. Thanks to this, you can improve certain ranged weapons if you invest in dexterity. Stand on the high ground and shoot can be a good tactic against enemies on the ground
Specialization also allows you to unlock the ability to use dedicated equipment, not only weapons, but also armor. And if you already decide to join a faction, you will have gained a lot of ground because they will give you different specialties that you can only unlock if you join one.
Tip 5: Learn to use and benefit from the Jetpack
The jetpack is the mechanic that changes everything. Thanks to this accessory you can explore the lost areas of the map and if you use it wisely it can be a huge ally in your fights. Flying into a location while fighting gives you a tactical advantage. It doesn’t work against all enemies, but sometimes it can be the difference between winning or losing.
With this add-on, which also allows you to customize and improve it, you will be able to move better between certain locations that have powerful enemies. Don’t stop experimenting, jumping and propelling yourself to places that seem abandoned, you can have a nice surprise.
