The entire publishing team at 505 Games and our development partners at Leenzee are pleased to announce Wuchang: Fallen Feathers with the world! Our game was announced earlier today during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 as a day-one title with Game Pass, scheduled for 2025. It tells the story of Bai Wuchang, a pirate warrior suffering from amnesia and battling the fear of ornithropy – a disease that gives her strength but slowly transforms her into a monstrous creature.
Our trailer (above) introduces Wuchang and gives you an impression of the environments, enemies and gameplay that await you in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. You can also see how the game leverages the power of Unreal Engine 5. From intricate details of ancient architecture to realistic textures of natural landscapes, expect an authentic, visually stunning action RPG experience when it launches next year for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. But that’s not all – read on to learn even more about Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Devilish boss fights
Your way to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is full of dangers and pits you against grotesque beasts, ghostly enemies, and your own inner demons. Prepare for brutal, multi-stage boss battles that will test your resolve and perseverance. The game is a non-linear experience that lets you choose your path and decide which bosses you face first. In the image below, you can see Wuchang facing off against one of the first bosses, a former priest who has been transformed into a deformed hunchbacked monster.
An arsenal against the darkness
Weapon and category affect how your Ornithrophy magic accumulates and what playstyle you choose. Choose between powerful two-handed axes or nimble one-handed blades; each weapon category offers an extensive set of skills, encouraging you to experiment and master different techniques to suit your preferred fighting style. For example, the unique Endurance ability allows you to avoid attack interruptions while taking damage and pairs well with the Heavy Axe, which specializes in dealing devastating blows.
Shape the land of Shu
As you navigate large, interconnected open environments, you’ll discover chisel fragments and journal excerpts that alter the story and lead to one of several possible endings. Throughout the story, there will be numerous NPCs who also know of these powerful fragments, and it’s up to you to decide who you team up with in your quest for their secret power. As the immersive narrative unfolds with each step, you’ll be faced with such choices that will ultimately determine the fate of Shu.
A dark retelling
Immerse yourself in a dark retelling of the late Ming Dynasty with numerous cutscenes, NPC interactions, and collectibles. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers features real historical figures such as Zhang Xianzhong and Li Dingguo, offering a unique blend of historical authenticity and fantastical storytelling. Your interaction with these characters leads to deep quest lines that span multiple chapters in the game and generate branching dialogue options, each leading to unique outcomes.
Original soundtrack composed by Anti-General
The soundtrack was composed by Anti-General Zhong Ziqi, who is widely known for his ability to combine electronic music with traditional Chinese culture and instruments. Best known for his work on “Cyberpunk Shanhaiching” and “The Bad Kids”, Anti-General combines great old melodies with modern musical elements, enhancing the overall atmosphere to immerse you deeper into the world of Shu.
