SEGA is also cutting jobs. Apparently 61 SEGA of America employees are now affected.
The gaming industry continues to be upended by massive waves of layoffs. Apparently Sega of America is now affected. As a Reset erauser noted, What Layoff’s cancellations were picked up on X/Twitter. The post states that Sega of America will be laying off 61 employees on March 8, 2024.
This is in accordance with California WARN, a California state policy requiring employees to be given 60 days’ notice of their last day of work in the event of a mass lay off.
As VideoGamesChronicle notes, these are two separate layoffs. At one point 49 employees have to pack their bags, at one point 12 people are affected. However, March 8th applies to both. Since Sega of America has a total of around 440 employees, over 10 percent of the workforce is being separated.
