Greetings, aspiring space cadets! Bonkies, the fun couch-co-op party game with a dash of building construction, hits Xbox One that same day! To celebrate the start, we’d like to share with you some quick tips on how to become the best Apestronaut the universe has ever seen. So grab your friends, buckle up, put on your jetpack and robo-armed spacesuit, and get ready for an extraplanetary monkey deal!
1: know your equipment
BonkieCorp cares for its brave space pioneers. To ensure the success of our missions, we equip every monkey, dog, cat and other creature we send into space with the latest technology – our own patented jetpack and a bionic arm! We’re going to take a closer look at both of them in a moment, but now you know – the Jetpack allows you to fly around the construction site with grace and elegance, while the Robo-Arm lets you manipulate and shape the materials and gorgeous constructions!
At least in theory, because usually you will probably first bump into your friends a lot and knock things down … Practice makes perfect!
2: Bring your best friends
No large space project has ever been carried out by a human (or monkey) alone. Every mission launched into the void of space has been the work of many and required a great deal of collaboration to be successful. The same goes for bonkies! Although our space program includes solo challenges, most of the missions you will encounter are designed for collaboration and teamwork in case you want to train alone! Sometimes two players are enough, but make sure even more friends are ready to fill in as there is always more work to do for a spare pair of hands (or, in this case, a powerful robotic arm!).
3: Unleash the arm
We already mentioned the wonder of monkey technology that is your robo-arm, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. For the Beginner Space Cadet, we recommend using it in Standard Mode. This means that the arm only aligns itself in one of the four basic directions – up, down, left and right. This makes it easier to manipulate the blocks and ensures their proper placement in the construction.
However, if you think you could use a little more craziness in your life (couldn’t we all?) Navigate to the options in the main menu and change them so that you can use the correct analog stick as well and operate the arm. Things get a little dumb, but that’s all part of the charm!
4: Don’t overheat
Now let’s discuss your portable, portable, and fashionable personal transportation device – the Jetpack! You’re probably already familiar with the basic concept of such a tool – you use the left analog stick to effortlessly slide around the room (and sometimes accidentally hit a support column or friend). These particular ones also come equipped with a boost! This comes in handy when you need to pick up a heavy block or when you want to move quickly.
Be careful, however, if you run too much boost and try to lift a heavy block, it can result in an overload that will have you flying over the construction site at random and will likely cause you to knock over the building you are trying to get increase. It’s great fun though, so get crazy every now and then!
5: High five often
Nothing says “good job!” Or “neat!” Or “Hey, I really value you as a friend!” just like a good old-fashioned high-five! Not everyone knows that our engineers have inappropriately invested the time, effort, and taxpayers’ money to ensure that the robo-weapons can handle and faithfully depict all of the delicate nuances of this ancient and sacred tradition. Just position your arm near another player’s arm and let yourself be hit! High-five, low-five, medium-five, behind the back and five on the head, the arm can hold everything!
A well-placed high-five is the cherry on top of a freshly finished construction and should put a smile on the face of every sentient being, whether organic or synthetic. Use them wisely!
6: overturn what you’ve built (just don’t too soon)
The joys of creation are one of the driving forces behind everything the monkey child has achieved so far and wants to achieve in the days, years or centuries to come. But to be fair, it also feels damn good to topple something big and watch it collapse. Destruction can also be fun and even more fun!
Therefore, after completing each challenge, you have a moment to bring it all back to ruin. Just make sure the timer actually clicked and the challenge passed. Otherwise, you run the risk of annoying your team members and unplugging your controller (controllers usually don’t plug in these days, but you got the idea).
And yes, we know that it kind of defeats the purpose of raising the constructions in the first place, but come on. Which is more important – a logically continuous space operation or having fun? Yes, we thought so too.
7: Finding Secret Hats
Everyone loves to find small, interesting or surprising secrets every now and then, and this is a scientific fact in life, our scientists have confirmed. You’re wearing lab coats so that has to be true, right?
Well, in order for anyone to find a secret, someone has to hide it first. To make your mission even funnier we decided to be that someone (the second, the one to hide things).
Before taking on a challenge, you will be asked to enter 3 letters as names that will identify you among other players. There are over 30 3-letter codes that give you a little flair when you enter them, like beautiful LIT glasses or a tophat that is worthy of a real SIR.
That’s enough tips, discover the rest for yourself!
8: get the bananas!
Everyone knows that bananas are a valuable source of potassium and a delicious, curved snack. Not everyone knows that they are also the space fuel of the future! And even fewer people are keepers of ancient lore, suggesting that bananas acquired by completing a challenge before a set time are key to unlocking more playable characters!
That last sentence is not entirely true, we are spreading the word so everyone knows how to unlock more majestic creatures to help build space. BonkieCorp isn’t all about monkeys, you know. Cats, dogs, mammals, robots and some mythical creatures want to be part of the mission, so we decided to let them be. Discover them all!
Knowing these tips should make the task at hand (colonizing the solar system as a team of monkeys with jetpacks and robo arms just to remind you) a little easier. That doesn’t mean it will be easy or that knowing this alone will be enough. You still need the help of your friends, quick wits, and impressive agility to tame the vastness of space. But the most important thing is to remember that it will be a lot of fun too!

Bonkies is a fun party game about cooperation, space building and the joy of colonizing the solar system as a monkey team. You and your main mates will be tasked with elevating all sorts of whimsical constructions on distant planets by stacking blocks to fit a certain outline. To do this, you’ll need to team up with other space animals and master the use of your reliable equipment – a banana-powered jetpack and a powerful robo-arm. In addition, you’ll have to use the craziest kinds of blocks (magnets, rockets, and even nuclear fusions are no stranger to a well-trained astronaut like you) and work in exotic and not entirely ape-friendly places. Who said building space would be easy? Monkey with your friends! Moving heavy blocks is no small feat. Fortunately, up to 4 friends can band together to carry this burden (or make them fall on each other’s heads). Monkey walking around alone waiting for friends to come to you? Do not worry! You can have fun in the single player campaign! Unusual blocks for every occasion To make the job more interesting, there are some rather unusual blocks available. If you thought this was all easy, wait until you have to try to catch a flying missile block or handle an explosive nuclear fusion cube. Help your chimpanzee choose animals of all shapes and sizes, thumb owners or not! Monkeys, dogs, cats (maybe a unicorn too?) – you name it! They are all eager to dress up and play around. Earn Your Bananas Bananas are the space food of the future! Secure your pile by beating the timing. If you collect enough, you will unlock some new friends!
