According to a rumor, 343 Industrie was working on Halo Infinite 2 in Slipspace Engine.
Halo Studios, previously known as 343 Industries, is said to have been working on a sequel to Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite 2 should also be implemented in the Slipspace Engine. This is what Rebs Gaming claims. It was said to have been worked on until 2022 before the decision was made to switch to Unreal Engine 5 after the change in leadership.
Rebs said: “The creative team at 343 spent a few months learning Unreal Engine 5 to prepare for the next project. This continued until January 2023, when Microsoft laid off a significant number of 343 employees, including the entire creative team.”
It is unclear whether the next project will be Halo Infinite 2 in Unreal Engine 5.
Rebs also spoke out about the climate, claiming that the fired campaign team did not feel supported enough. The campaign content may have been outsourced, but no replacement team was created.
“The campaign team felt trapped in a bubble where there was no studio-wide collaboration and no clarity about what was happening in the studio and what their plans were for the future,” Rebs said.
