Just a few days ago we learned that the Warcraft mobile game developed by Blizzard and NetEase It was cancelled. A news on which it is speculated that the main reason would have been the disagreements about the monetization of this spin-off of the franchise. and seeing the Activision Blizzard financial results for the last quarterit is logical that there was friction.
And it is that the company has left an interesting fact in its latest financial report of the last fiscal quarter, which ended on June 30. More than half of its revenue came from mobile games. Th is includes Heartstone, Call of Duty or Diablo Immortal among others.
Activision Blizzard is a money generator
The company’s coffers have left us with an interesting picture that shows there’s economic potential in Microsoft’s new purchase. Specifically $1,664 million in a single quarter. Here is the revenue breakdown:
- $332 million on PC.
- $376 million in consoles.
- $831 million in “Mobile and Auxiliary”.
- 105 million revenue for the quarter in the “Other” category
The “other” category includes revenue from its distribution business and the Overwatch and Call of Duty leagues, but even adding that $105 million to PC and console revenue, there is still a long way to go to surpass total mobile revenue.
If we compare console and PC revenues, we see that they have stagnated compared to the same period last year, and the mobile category is the only one that is growing in revenues. The release of Diablo Immortal should have been a nice bonus given that it managed to gross over $100 million and a player base of 30 million.
