CD Projekt has been quiet for a while. Characterized by many reviews on the development of Cyberpunk 2077, Delays and postponements of fixes has taken a blow to the aura of the studio. So much so that the game’s Twitter account was in Underwater Mode and a comment under an Xbox message until this week. So discreet that some think about structural changes within the Polish company, such as an acquisition. Studio President Adam Kiciński confided to a Polish medium to bring some light into the studio situation.
For Kiciński there is no doubt: CD Projekt will remain independent.
We have been saying for years that we want to remain independent and not want to be part of a larger unit. We are also not looking for a strategic investor.
The Polish group had previously announced increased activities in the area of mergers and acquisitions. This was due to the acquisition of The molasses flood and Digital landscapes, formed a team in Vancouver to consolidate its international position. Kiciński makes it clear that they are not excluding “More transactions of this kind in the future”. As for the possibility of an aggressive takeover bid for the company, it remains unlikely due to legal provisions preventing it:
[…]There are regulations that make hostile takeovers much more difficult.
