With the release of Age of Mythology: Retold fast approaching, Microsoft and World’s Edge have revealed some of their plans for adding content to the game. While the game won’t officially launch until September 4, Those who pre-ordered the Premium Edition will be able to play it on August 27.
One of the most exciting new additions is the New Gods Pack: Freyr DLC, which will be available to players who upgrade or purchase the premium edition of the game outright. According to Kristen Hanlon-Pirillo, Senior Game Designer at World’s Edge, this DLC pack is a new type of content update for the studio:
What we really wanted to do was give players a new type of strategy for the Nords, who are a beloved civilization from the previous game and can sometimes be very offensive in the way they play. And that’s why, with our Freyr God Pack, we wanted to give you a defensive approach. So, with the Freyr God Pack, players will get four new types of gods, including Freyr, who is the god of fertility and kingship.
Two pantheons of gods and more new features after launch
The DLC pack will include four new god types, including Freyr, the god of fertility and kingship. There will also be three minor god types in the pack, and all will have new mythic units and divine powers. One of the god types is Ullr, the god of archery who can spawn an undead archer called a draugr, who can shoot arrows that hit multiple targets. Additionally, the pack will include a new map, Reginleif’s Rally.
In addition to the New Gods Pack: Freyr DLC, World’s Edge also plans to add at least two more pantheons of gods to the game as expansions after launch. A new game mode, Arena of the Gods, will also be added to the game after launch, though details on this mode will be revealed at a later date.
The game’s Steam page features the roadmap for Age of Mythology: Retold, giving players an idea of ββwhat they can expect in the future. While little has been revealed about additional content yet, it’s clear that World’s Edge has ambitious plans for the game.
