The sequel to the highly acclaimed 2019 AI: The Dream Files, AI: The Dream Files – nirvanA initiative, begins with the discovery of the left half of a victim of the half-body serial killings six years ago. Even more bizarre, the body shows no signs of decomposition.
You control two main protagonists, Mizuki and Ryuki, members of ABIS, a special investigation team within the Metropolitan Police Department. These agents or “Psyncers” use Psync machines to penetrate the dreams of suspects and key witnesses. Special agents Mizuki and Ryuki, along with their AI partners Aiba and Tama, are tasked with solving the bizarre serial murders of Half Body.
The game consists of two parts “Investigation” and “Somnium”. “Investigations” take place in the real world, where you investigate crime scenes and hear witness testimonies.
In “Somnium” you enter the dream worlds of suspects and key witnesses to find new clues. In the Dream World, Mizuki’s AI Ball Aiba or Ryuki’s AI Ball Tama assist their agents by conducting investigations on their behalf. The structure of the dream world is based on the subject’s personality and memories, and each world has its own set of rules. The goal of a somnium is to penetrate a subject’s deep consciousness within six minutes, solving a series of “puzzle-like” obstacles or “mental blocks” that hide an important clue.
Move back and forth between these two parts, Investigation and Somnium, gain clues that may help solve the case, and ultimately uncover the mysterious conspiracy known only as the Nirvana Initiative…
