Aigis in the spotlight as Persona 3 Reload epilogue makes its way to Game Pass

Last February Persona 3 Reload introduced a new generation of gamers to the first “modern” entry in the Persona series and became the fastest-selling game in Atlus’ nearly 40-year history. P3R is a monster of an RPG (providing the author with over 90 hours of entertainment). What is left for our heroes once they have defeated Tartarus, ended the Dark Hour, and put things right at Gekkokuan High?

Mostly sadness.

As episode Aigis -The Answer-, Reload‘s remake of the epilogue from 2007 Person 3 THbegins, the mood is decidedly depressed. Sure, the cult arch-enemy Strega is gone, and the apathy syndrome is easing on Tatsumi Port Island. But with Persona 3 ReloadThe main character of falls in the final battle and the Iwatodai dorm closes its doors forever. The mood is anything but victorious. At least everything is back to normal, right? Or?

While the surviving SEES gang hangs out in the dorm one last time, the clock strikes midnight, there is an earthquake, another Aigis-like android named Metis appears in bursts, and a giant hole appears in the floor of the dorm lobby that leads downward. Trapped in a time loop and unable to leave the dorm, the gang has no choice but to explore the mysterious chasm that has appeared beneath the dorm.

While Mitsuru, Junpei and the gang aren’t exactly thrilled to be thrust back into the center of a supernatural mystery, I couldn’t be more excited to watch the first hour of Episode Aigis -The Answer-and dive back into a game that I’ve honestly missed since I finished it this spring.

Pick up the controller again to learn more Persona 3 Reload was as familiar and comfortable as setting up my favorite spot on the couch – with one wrinkle. After our main character passes away, Aigis visits the Velvet Room, which is known as the place that only the heroes of the Persona games can visit, apparently. This also means that Aigis can now switch Personas in battle, just like the hero of the full game.

Unlike the endless stairs of Tartarus, the Abyss of Time has clear paths to choose from, appearing like doors in the middle of a desert. Once you’re inside, the action is moment-to-moment, as you might remember: exploring labyrinths, exploiting enemies’ weaknesses, and unleashing All Out Attacks – more of what people love about Persona.

What else is new: The mysterious Metis joins the team, which leads to some fun battle banter – she’s a bit weird! I noticed some new music tracks joining those already imprinted in my brain. The first hour also offers tantalizing hints that Persona 3 ReloadThe main character of may not be completely out of this world. Regardless of how it turns out, Aigis always had the energy of a main character, and we’re in for a fun ride as she takes the wheel for a 30-hour epilogue adventure.
