Ascendant Studios will now receive all sales proceeds from the first-person shooter Immortals of Aveum.
EA recently announced that the fantasy first-person shooter Immortals of Aveum is part of the EA Play subscription service. Subscribers can currently access the title published last year.
In keeping with the announcement, developer Ascendant Studios spoke out in a blog post with further good news. Accordingly, the American studio should immediately receive all sales proceeds from the game. Publisher EA will no longer receive a share of the revenue.
The changes to the contractual terms and conditions by EA are rather unusual. It is currently believed that Ascendant Studios was offered this agreement in exchange for integration into various subscription services such as EA Play.
Aside from that, the studio announced that 1.3 million users have now played the fantasy shooter. This includes not only direct buyers and PlayStation Plus users, but also downloads of the demo version via Steam. Back in April, Immortals of Aveum was part of Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription.
Since the title’s launch in August of last year, Ascendant Studios has struggled with problems. The developer had to lay off almost half of all employees. In April it was announced that the majority of employees were currently on short-time work.
