Microides, with Mr. Nutz Studio and the invaluable presence of Afternoon games in “Iberian” territory, they were the culprits of working magic on our consoles. As seems to be the usual trend these years (and continues for a long time if the quality is good), the most classic comic is jumping from paper to our television. On this occasion we will be able to play the two most feared characters of the Gauls and the wild boars. We send back, how could it be otherwise, Asterix and Obelix who will not hesitate to use their fists to relive their great and best adventures.

It can be a lot of fun at first to crush enemies. In all phases there are many rivals on the screen (I do not exclude cataloging this title in a new category called “mousou’em up”). All is not beautiful and rosy in Gaul. Asterix and Obelix: slap them all! He sins of an error which weighs heavy, and it is monotony. Games of this kind must be very original so as not to fall into repetition. Without going any further, Streets of Rage 4 does not blatantly extend its duration, and instead offers the most varied characters, with a lot of solvency and bestial combos. In contrast, Battletoads thwarts simpler fights with phases that break away from the workbench and invite us to do other tasks. The latter is precisely what the Mr. Nutz Studio game lacks. He tries, of course. We have wild boar races, barrel busting bonus stages and other kinds of mini-games… but that’s not enough.

In addition, there is another thing happening that we do not see with good eyes, and that is the rehearse scenarios. Whenever Asterix and Obelix take a boat trip on their next adventure, they can’t fail to have a great time with the pirates. On the same ship and with the same people … over and over again. The skins of the Romans were also not taken care of, being very even. Or barbarians, relying on only three types of rivals. They wanted to stretch the gum out of a proposition that could easily have lasted half and been just as good.

Microids and Mr. Nutz Studio have done the magic with their latest video game. The last adventure of these two friends in front of all the Gauls masterfully transfers the designs created … to your console. Not only is the design good, but the animations, the characters that appear and the stories they recreate, taken directly from their most representative comics, are an authentic marvel and the fan-service that any lover of Asterix and Obelix wish to find.

The problem lies in its playable mechanics. At first it’s cool to defeat hordes and hordes of enemies, when we finish a few acts we already see the seams of the game. The title lengthens its duration too much with repetitive gameplay. If there were other types of mini-games, or a more in-depth combat system, nothing would happen. Too bad everything is so the same and we even see screens that are literally the same. We can at least make up for this failure with a local co-op to share the laughs and the punches.
