One of the oldest genres in the world of video games is both Point and Click and Beat em Up. Well, in this COWCAT game these two genres mix perfectly. The game begins with our protagonist waking up to a burning apartment, where his wife is trapped under rubble. He tries to help her, without success, but his wife accuses him of being behind it all, although he doesn’t remember anything.. But suddenly, the alarm clock r ings, it was all just a dream, but his wife is indeed dead in the fire in her apartment. Brok is now the adoptive father of Graff, the son of his late wife. The two live in the suburbs of a futuristic cyberpunk-style city, where the poorest people in the city live. In the game you can see the divisions of social classes that exist in this city

The story of the game is very interesting and with the end of each chapter (the game is composed of 6) makes you want more. This focuses on what happened to our protagonist’s wife. And it is that Brok cannot trust anyone, since the government of this city seems to be a corrupt and involved government. The relationship between Brok and Graff will also be very important, which we will be able to control on certain occasions in the game. The duration of the adventure is between 15 and 20 hours, although it will be highly replayable, since the game will have a series of side missions, as well as different endings depending on our decisions.. The game’s tone is more serious than that of the studio’s previous adventure, Demetrios, but the game still has its rather nice touches of humor.

Fight or talk, you choose

Regarding the gameplay of the title, we end up with the first game that mixes the genres Point and Click and Beat em Up. The game will feature two game modes, detective mode and combat mode. We can switch between these two modes simply by pressing the Y button on our remote control, being able to do it at any time. This will be very useful to us during our adventure, since to solve some puzzles and puzzles we will have to alternate between these two game modes

. Detective mode will be the usual Point and Click mode, moving our character on the stage, with a cursor with which we can select objects from the environment. As for the combat mode, we can perform more actions in it, such as hitting, jumping, etc…

As for the fight of the title, in order not to be the main part of the game, rather something optional, since we can solve most conflicts through conversation or other means, ignoring the fight is rather good. We will have a basic attack, a strong attack, a special ability that activates when we run out of health… In addition, our character will gain experience after each fight, which can improve their health, strength or special ability. If we talk about the puzzles, these seemed very good to me, some have a very logical way to solve, and others are very excited where they will make us smile. If you get stuck at any point in the adventure, don’t worry, you can use hints, a kind of QR codes hidden around the world that when you find them, you can exchange them for hints. Additionally, there is an easy mode where you can skip the mandatory fights and focus on the story.

If we talk about the graphical aspect of the game, BROK the InvestiGator conforms to it very well. The character designs are quite beautiful and you can see the care the French studio put into their creation.

It is true that the scenarios do not seem to have been worked on in the same way as the characters, since although they are beautiful, they do not seem to have the care that the characters have. The sound aspect is pretty good too. All the characters that appear in the game have their voices dubbed in English, with a very high level, especially the protagonist. the game is fully translated into english, although there are conversations where the game appears in English. I hope that although these are specific errors, they will be resolved in the future.

BROK the Investigator’s Findings

French studio COWCAT has done a fantastic job with their new game, far exceeding their previous venture.. Brok will have to deal with an incredible variety of situations, interrogations, search for evidence, combat, operating as a whole at an exceptional level. With a much deeper story than it seems, which will keep you in suspense for the 15-20 hours that it lasts, and which also does not leave aside the humor that characterizes the study. We are facing an adventure that will delight lovers of classic adventures and that also does not leave aside the inexperienced of the genre.. And it’s that the inclusion of adventure combat means it doesn’t fall into monotony, and it’s a breath of fresh air. I wanted more and expected new work from this studio.
