As humanity on CYGNI seems doomed to eradication, there is still hope thanks to a young pilot.
There are genres where it is more difficult to observe a latent generational leap. This will be because they are not very present on the market, or because of hackneyed playable mechanics It is very difficult to take a new step in the search for innovation. Fortunately, from my point of view, we have reached a new milestone in the perfection of the shooting games of ships. And that’s it CYGNI: All Guns Blazing offers things I’ve never seen before in titles of this type. And although it also has some flaws that we will detail in the analysis, it is one of those games that you should discover if you are a fan of “small ships”.
Take advantage of every last missile available
Konami next to QuilleWorks they bring us a pull them old-fashioned vertical, but hypervitaminized to get the most out of our consoles. On this occasion, we will embody a great flight pilot with the mission of to protect humanity within the planet CYGNI. This is the last bastion of our race, and even if we were invaded by a wave of biomechanical beings, we will have to defend ourselves tooth and nail from the attack of this rival. And beware, the battle will be epic.
Balances that will give us victory
Although our ship will be limited in weapons, it has everything necessary to get rid of the rival. This is achieved through a system that balances the attack with the defense of our ship. We can balance the shield amounts or attack power to obtain an optimal benefit depending on each situation. Fortunately, from time to time we will receive “extra recharges” that we will reuse in one or the other of the two variants described.
It sounds like something that is set up at the beginning of the phase and left untouched. But it isn’t, and if you’re like me, you’ll quickly learn from your mistakes. You have to be able to switch perfectly if you want to get out of this alive. We will use our attack power to deploy a salvo of missiles, and if we run out of ammunition, we will have no choice but to risk the integrity of our hull. if we don’t want the screen to collapse with the enemies. And I remind you that we are facing an invasion. A real invasion.
War at your feet
CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is an audiovisual show, and one of those rare shoot’em ups that fully immerses you in the action. There will always be two different heights. The usual clashes will be air-to-air clashes, but we will also have to bomb elements on the surface of the planet. And it is a wonder to look down.
Konami has released other great classic games such as Against: Operation Galuga. Don’t miss our analysis if you don’t know it yet. run and shoot.
There are moments of large-scale invasion where you will see a large number of war machines coming out of the sky. Sometimes attacking your allies, and other times targeting you. Well, then, that feeling of strength when they shoot at you, with missiles exploding like a huge firework,
Team Extermination
And speaking of fireworks, it’s true that CYGNI: All Guns Blazing has a lot of pyrotechnics. Laser beams, bombs, explosions… Everything has many colors and reflections that completely flood the screen. Not to mention the large number of enemies that will come to hunt us down.
The rivals have a biomechanical aspect that will sometimes mimic animals we know. From crustaceans to insects like moths or aphids that will only appear permanently on our screen. They invade everything in such a huge and instinctive way that it is impossible to sweep away all the aliens… unless we have help through the local co-op we have. And even though I like team play, sometimes The title seems designed for duo combat, but we won’t always have a friend in our room to wipe out aliens.
Upgrade your fighting machine
And the difficulty is very present in this shooting proposal. Do not be afraid to start the game in easy mode and get improvements for the ship, because it is the best option if we want to later face a greater challenge. Unfortunately, The upgrade system is anecdotal, and while the interface is nice, there won’t be as many upgrades as one would like. We will only have two types of shots, a drone that adds more firepower, increased missiles and their range of action, some improvement for air-to-ground attacks and nothing else. On the one hand, I understand that you always have to play with the same cards in each mission, but I would like more personality and options to choose different shooting models.
CYGNI Conclusion: All Guns Are Fire
Konami and KeelWorks have come up with a spectacular ship shoot’em up. Everything works very well. From an audiovisual section to the match, an integrity of our actions both in the air and on land and an attack/defense balancing system that suits you perfectly. It is not an easy game, and it will take time to master its playable system. But once we understand it, a very interesting dance of the balls begins.
It’s not perfect, far from it. There’s only local co-op, there are moments where it’s clear that CYGNI: All Guns Blazing is designed to be played in company, and its upgrade system falls short. Even with its flaws, it’s one of the best “small ship” games you’ll find today.
