More adventure than action

MachineGames made a risky decision to begin developing Indiana Jones and the Big Circle. And the view of the title is in the first person and not in the third person as one might expect. This meant that many players did not understand this decision and caused a great stir on the networks. But we couldn't be happier with the Swedish studio's decision. And this subjective vision makes us feel like Indy himself.. Additionally, we believe this decision benefited both combat, stealth as well as puzzles. Of course, in platforming moments, the view will switch to a third-person view so we can also see the archaeologist's animations and outfits.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is an action adventure where exploration, puzzles and stealth will be very present. This whole mix of mechanics and genres works wonderfully, without any aspect conflicting with another. Despite this, We can say that more importance was given to the adventure part than to the action part, so if you are looking for unbridled action like in the studio's previous works, you won't find it here. Additionally, gun combat is bland and simple, with melee combat being much more elaborate. Fighting with our fists (or with any object we find on the stage) is very satisfying, we can dodge, defend ourselves, counterattack or use our whip to strangle or disarm enemies. We recommend, whenever possible, using this type of combat, as it offers many possibilities and is a lot of fun.

Stealth, puzzles and exploration

If we do not want to resort to direct action, you can also opt for stealth. It's something basic but it works wonderfully. We can distract enemies with objects, perform stealth executions or gain height and sneak along ledges and roofs. The levels offer a multitude of paths and possibilities to advance as we wish. As a negative point, Enemy AI is a bit spotty. In many cases, enemies are not aware of your presence when you perform an execution next to them or break an object that generates a lot of noise. Minor issues but they take away from the experience a bit.

The level design is beautiful. Throughout the adventure, linear levels will be interspersed with other more open ones, as if they were small open worlds. These work exceptionally well. In every corner, there are secrets to discover, missions to accomplish or characters to meet.. Exploration plays a vital role in these phases, in addition to puzzles. These turned out to be a lot of fun and clever, although not too difficult. Another aspect that we really liked was its progression system.. This one does not have the typical skill tree of other games of the genre, but to learn the different skills we must find a series of books hidden throughout the world.

Graphically incredible

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a graphically excellent video game. The title has a spectacular artistic direction, which leaves very nice impressions. The lighting is of an exceptional standard, with some of the best use of light and shadow I've seen anywhere.. The facial expressions are astonishing, both those of our protagonist and those of other characters and enemies. The game works in series On open stages you may witness some popping and There are some minor bugs like some bodies passing through objects or walls. These are minor bugs but we hope they will be fixed in future updates.

A different dubbing… but just as good

The sound section of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is magnificent. The OST of the title mixes veteran and known melodies from the saga, with others created especially for the occasion. All of them are exciting and fast-paced and convey emotion and action to the player. The video game's dubbing also exudes quality. The game is dubbed into Spanish, and while it doesn't have Harrison Ford's usual voice actor, His new voice actor, Gabriel Jiménez, does a spectacular job. Note that the different characters and NPCs will speak in the language of the place where they come from. For example, Italian will be spoken in the Vatican. It’s a detail that offers a greater level of immersion. For those occasions when the characters do not speak Spanish, subtitles will still be available, the size of which can be adjusted.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is undoubtedly one of the best video games of the year. It's a fun title that combines adventure and action superbly. Its story, lasting about 15 hours (much more if you want 100%), does not revolutionize anything, and does not intend to do so, but it seems to be perfectly that of a new film and I'm sure the fans will love it. The graphics section, despite its problems, leaves you speechless because of the beautiful images it leaves, which will be engraved on your retina. MachineGames' work isn't perfect, there are a few issues like somewhat erratic enemy AI or unsatisfying gun combat, but, overall, it's a very action-adventure game. enjoyable that automatically became one of our favorite video games of the year. A title totally recommended for those who like this type of adventure, whether you are a fan of the saga or not.
