A few months ago, I myself brought you an analysis of a game called Box sets: The Lost Fragments. In it, I told you about my experience with the convoluted puzzles it offered. Today, in the same spirit, I’m talking to you about a title that has many similarities with it, since its mechanics reminded me of it. If you want what I thought of the new release from Blue Brain Games, join me in this analysis of Da Vinci’s House 3 to know my opinion.
For now, as the title itself indicates, we are faced with the third part (and we assume it will end) of a saga that has two games already released (respectively in 2017 and 2019). This third installment debuted on PC in 2022 and since last September 19 is available in all consolesboth from the current generation and from the past.
It doesn’t matter if you missed the previous ones.
I admit that I haven’t played the first two episodes and that could pose a problem plot-wise. But from the studio, they have us covered in that sense. From the Start menu itself we will have “The Chronicle
I must say that perhaps, The number of cutscenes and especially dialogues is excessive for the type of game it is.. Even though Giacomo’s story is well told and I don’t have any “buts”, it sometimes breaks the rhythm. Although well integrated into the game, I found on several occasions that I was more interested in the next puzzle to solve than the story of the game itself.
I insist, it may be something personal, but I think that the type of player who can approach this type of game, what he is looking for is a succession of puzzles supported by the plot . But too much knowledge on the part of the game can work against you.
Analysis of The House of Da Vinci 3: Puzzle-focused gameplay
What awaits us in the playable area? Well, then, here we are to solve puzzles. With this clear premise, we will need to explore the scenarios and artifacts that we have before us. To do this, the best advice I can give is to be curious and explore everything that is explorable and that we “touch” everything that is “ touchable”
In short, I cannot explain more about the mechanics of a puzzle game because they are self-explanatory. You will have to hit the jackpot and try to understand the mechanisms, pieces and buttons necessary to solve this puzzle that prevents us from moving on to the next one.
Well-worked track system
will not be missed a fairly well thought out hint system that will help you if you get stuck. I say that it is well thought out since it will be progressive and if you go to him he will not give you the solution at the first opportunity. Little by little they will release the keys to you and it will depend on how demanding you are of the game if you use it a lot.
I must say that, once you have experience in this type of game, maybe the difficulty is not very greateven if it is not progressive, since those in the last part did not cost us more. They vary in difficulty and you can do one right away and you can get very stuck on the next one. In addition, the mechanics of being able to play with time add a very interesting plus.
In short, simple gameplay with mechanics that are well known to fans of this type of game
Where it became heavier for me is precisely what has nothing to do with its gameplay. The abundant and excessively long cutscenes make this game a bit heavy in this sense. I had a feeling of “excess” of story and a fairly pronounced lack of rhythm. This makes the game lose its agility as a whole and can make many an impatient player despair.
Audiovisual aspect
At least on an audiovisual level, Giacomo’s story meets what was expected and, Without being a technical boast and knowing that this is a game also released on mobile devices, we cannot ask for more for the type of game it is.. The music is also decent and accompanies us in the moments of solving puzzles with an appropriate tempo.
Analysis of the Da Vinci House 3: conclusions
In summary and by way of conclusions, Da Vinci’s House 3 he offers us a good assortment of puzzles that will keep your brain busy for about 8 hoursalways depending on your skill in this type of game and the frequency with which you use its puzzle system. Weighed down by very long cutscenes which break the rhythm, Its puzzles are varied and entertaining. Of course, for those new to the genre, the game can be a bit slow.
