Skateboarding with aliens is more fun, and in VOID Riders we will give a good review of it
There are games that are not difficult because of the concept itself, but because of the challenge the users impose on themselves. Beating the high score, whether ours or a friend’s, can become a personal challenge which makes us repeat each phase for hours and hours. OlliOlli World belongs to this type of proposition. A proposal that has demolished its pixelated foundations to provide greater accessibility. A clean slate that is now growing with VOID Riders, his first DLC where, in addition to new scenarios, we will have new mechanics. Ready for miller with aliens?
Re-grease the wheels of your board
Don’t let anyone confuse you. VOID Riders is just a pretext for OlliOlli World to continue “stinging” us with its phases. Yes, it’s true that he integrates new ideas, but basically it’s about discovering new challenges to take up. And hey, that’s not a bad thing. On this occasion, we will have the unexpected visit of the VOID Riders, who visit our planet in search of information to report to their leader Nebulord. But of course, these beings come up against us, a whole deity of the Gnarvanaand they can’t help but succumb to our charms with skateboarding.
at our disposal we will have a series of phases located near the base world of OlliOlli World. You don’t need to complete the base game to access it. Simply travel to the Burntrock region and this side adventure will begin there. Once we activate this DLC we will visit other well-known places to find ourselves in the same country as Nebulord.
Perform sidereal pirouettes
At first glance, VOID Riders is a simple DLC, suitable for all sorts of needs. I say at first glance because although they seem few phases (in just over an hour you can complete them) the real challenge lies precisely in achieving the secondary objectives. In the same way that we already saw in the original installment, come on. And for that, the knee pads will have to be tightened a little better, because that’s where the scooter party begins. However, despite these new challenges, it is true that I noticed more accessibility than usual, and without much effort on my part I was able to beat the scores of the local heroes that mark each phase.
Watch out for the bellowing animals
As we have done so far, The main trick of this DLC will be the same as in the base game: chain combos to increase the score. For this we will continue sharpeningrealizing wall rides, pirouettes in the air and a thousand other stories. The novelty comes thanks to the extraterrestrials who will come to visit us. These beings will have a kind of abductor rays that will allow us to go up in the tracing and that way we don’t touch the ground.
It’s not that it’s a heavy novelty, but it does its job and it gives a little more packaging to the little story that VOID Riders wants to tell. In fact, we could say that these abducting rays to some extent replace the crystals that we have broken in OlliOlli World, since we have hardly found them in this type of obstacle in this new adventure.
Will you be able to defeat Nebulord?
One of the aspects that I liked the most are the challenge phases that appear once we have completed the common paths of each area. These screens provide a different playable style than intended, with completely different goals. We will have to wake up a Yeti from its lethargy, we will race against an aquatic monster or recover cows that have been kidnapped by these aliens. An additional incentive that gives a breath of fresh air.
Of course, apart from these single player challenges, we will also have new phases in its online mode. Like the rest of VOID Riders, here they have not innovated by offering something different and original, but everything follows the same path that we have already seen in the OlliOlli World multiplayer. Despite this repetition, don’t worry because each new track remains an experience and “the war of spades” to find out which is the best score is still relevant.
Conclusion of VOID riders
Private Division and Roll7 are back with more content for their awesome OlliOlli World. We will have new paths, mechanics and additional objectives so that we can once again demonstrate our skill with skateboarding. It is not necessary to complete the base game to enjoy this DLC, and in fact, it shows that it is aimed at all types of audiences since its level of demand is not very high.
There is (as usual) a higher difficulty peak in the additional objectives, but other aspects like beating the score of the local heroes will be beaten as soon as we know how to skate. VOID Riders becomes a good excuse to return to the world of grindeo, multipliers and crazy stunts. If you opt for the direct objectives, this expansion will last you just over an hour, although if you decide to complete each challenge, you will have to put everything you have learned on your way to Gnarvana into play.
