Analysis of WRC generations – A lifetime of racing

analysis, generations, lifetime, racing, WRC

WRC Generations brings us news such as hybrid cars. Are we going to run out of battery in the remote or in the front car?

There are no few games rallies analyzed behind my back, and I must admit that each of them seemed very interesting to me because of their proposal to approach this type of career. From minimalist titles, to those that evoke nostalgia, to realistic ones that attempt to deliver the wild spirit of driving most faithfully to your console. In this last group we can classify WRC generations, the last work of Kylotonn and NACON who returns to demonstrate the hegemony they have carved out over the years. Will they continue to be the king of skids?

Provide new technologies at every stage

If something works… Why change it? I assume that will be what the studio thought of with this latest iteration of the franchise. WRC generations maintains the essence and spirit we saw in WRC 10adding small novelties such as a new location in Sweden with 6 stages, as well as the inclusion of hybrid cars. And that is perhaps the virtue and the misfortune of this episode. We already said it last year: the saga has achieved a very good boost, which we praised in its corresponding review. But now I don’t see such progress, because it is difficult to improve the formula further.

User-friendly management in its campaign mode

Whether you want to compete in its online mode, race season after season or carve out a professional career, WRC Generations offers variants for all tastes. Its fundamental pillar remains its own career mode, where in addition to playing the events, we will have to manage the team in different ways. Depending on our ability to manage, we may choose to three different difficulty levels. In WRC Junior, we will focus our efforts on driving, and all opponents will have the same car as ours: a Ford Fiesta Rally3. In WRC Constructor we will manage a team, while in WRC Private, apart from the actions of the other modes, sponsors will have to be hired.

All of this is presented a very illustrative way and quite easy to understand, despite the complexity of the material. In our workshop we will be able to see the next available events, manage the team we have hired and even enter the R&D office. This section still seems very interesting to me, since as in WRC 10, We will distribute the experience gained by different “skills”, as if it were a role-playing game. Yeah, if you’re from last year’s episode, it behaves the same way, for better and for worse.

Spectral competition in multiplayer mode

Where there is something else to change is in its multiplayer mode. We won’t have races with other “live and live” users, but we will compete with their ghosts. That is, we will see on our screen the race that the rival has made. Every effort will have its reward, and if we manage to overcome the weekly and daily challenges which contains the multiplayer of WRC Generations, we will move up the ranks in the world ranking. What is new, and seems to me a success, is the possibility of Create teams and compete against other players as a team. If you really like rally and you have friends who also like rally, stay tuned for this implementation.

No time to get upset

In its technical part, we have two display modes, at least for the Xbox Series X. On the one hand, the visual mode, with an improvement in the graphics but weighing down the fpsand on the other hand the performance mode, where the resolution is reduced in order to offer a frame rate of 60 fps. It continues to be spectacular, with beautiful scenery whether you are in the snow, in the Japanese forests or on the European mountain tracks.

Another small implementation included in WRC Generations is a More realistic physics system, where every hit counts in car performance. Also, it is no longer worth finishing the race in any way. Then you have to fix the car, and it’s worth the money, so we better pamper our vehicle and take it to the next step in the best condition.

Conclusion of the WRC generations

Kylotonn and NACON take the wheel again in a new episode of the famous driving saga. Despite being a great title, with everything a fan of these races could want, there are things that squeak. For starters, WRC Generations is very similar to WRC 10, and fans betting on this new iteration will see no reason to justify this new purchase. With the exception of a model update, physics improvements, 6 new stages, and the inclusion of hybrid models, everything behaves the same. To the point that the interface in his career mode remains the same, without minimal changes. Of course, if you don’t know about the existence of WRC 10, this game turns out to be the most interesting and complete of the whole saga, so if you like games of ralliesYou have no excuse to have it.

We thank NACON for the provided copy of the game to be able to do the analysis. If you want to know more about the game, we recommend you to visit son the official website.
