The choice does not affect the development of the game, although we will have a closer type of shops or buildings closer as we choose.

Having already chosen where we want to settle, it will be time to customize our character. In the image below you can see the different physical aspects that we can customize. Once we’re done, we’ll be ready to start our career as a YouTuber. At all times, our character will be accompanied by a drone with different features such as taking photos, broadcasting or storing all the videos to take home.

Explore and discover NewTube City

A main point of the game and where we will do a lot of activities will be our house. This house is fully customizable, from the floor, walls, furniture, decoration and we can even improve some of the furniture we have already installed. We can also obtain authorizations from the town hall to expand our house and install more activity spaces such as an unpacking table or better storage. From home this will be the place where we will edit our videos previously recorded with our drone. Here we are also going to start the day and we will have to finish it, like the deadline for going to bed at 4 in the morning. If we do not fall asleep in time, our character will fall to the ground and be accompanied by his drone friend, but along the way we will lose an item from our inventory.

The city of NewTube City is divided into three main cores. The center, where we will find video game stores, components for our PC, a geek store, a gym, as well as a restaurant and a clothing store. On the other hand, we have the old town, where the city council is located. In this district we will also have the most idle part, with a discotheque, a theater and the cinema, in addition to the shops and restaurants that we find in all the districts. Finally, the port district, where you will find the beach district, the marina, as well as the hairdressing salon and the usual restaurants and shops.

All stores will have an opening and closing time. It will depend on the type of trade. There are also some stores that close on Sundays, or the nightclub twice a week, so this should be taken into account.

To guide us a bit in these activities, we will use the “InstaLife” application on our mobile phone, where we can check the trends that exist at any time. By reacting to the hottest topics, we will gain more followers.

The two main ways to keep up with these trends are to post photos on “InstaLife”, which we need to do in a place marked with the trendy “hashtag”, or to make a pre-recorded or streaming video. In doing so, we will see our profits reported, economically through the rewards for views received, or by increasing the number of subscribers to our “NewTube” channel. For streaming, we will have the “Glitch” platform, which will also inform us of the best times to stream and earn more views or donations.

The activities available do not end there. We will also have some kind of daily orders. These orders will be of the messenger type (take an object in such a store and bring it to this person) or requests from certain citizens or YouTubers who will ask us to upload a photo or a video on a specific trend. These activities will be the ones with the greatest rewards that we get, especially at the start of the game when we are not bringing great benefits to our youtuber content.

There are also specific or thematic activities. Whether it’s for a specific date, a video game convention, the premiere of a new movie or the best youtuber award ceremony once a season is over. These activities generally require a minimum number of subscribers or have a specific purpose to participate. The time available to achieve this is sometimes overwhelming, making it impossible to finish enjoying the other available activities.

Presence of well-known Youtubers and the value of friendship

A big incentive of Youtubers Life 2 is the presence of famous or recognized Youtubers. During our analysis we had the opportunity to meet the Rubius, Willyrex, PewDiePie, Crainer or Laurenzside. Whenever some of these YouTubers show up, they’ll ask us to do some sort of mission. Once completed, we will receive a reward of gratitude, such as clothing, decorations or “gesture” tokens to use in our videos.

There are other YouTubers in the game. These YouTubers have their recognition earned in NewTube City. To gain their trust and move forward in our development, we will have to dialogue with them, accept the missions they offer us and, ultimately, win their friendship..

Friendship is also an important factor in the game. Depending on the responses or reactions we have towards certain citizens, we will gain or lose friendships with them. By gaining the friendship we will gain subscribers, we will have access to new parts of the map, to the store, or they will provide us with more relevant information in the game. We can get to the point of marrying one of the citizens. If we are not interested in continuing the relationship, we can get a divorce at City Hall.

Gameplay and technical section

Regarding the gameplay, it could be kept to a minimum and say that it is basically about editing videos in the most efficient way and doing daily activities in the shortest possible time. The gameplay feels a bit outdated due to the multitude of activities they offer to perform. We will have limited time, from 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. But that’s not all, every activity we do (whether recording a video, editing it, going to the gym, etc.) will consume energy. We can recover this energy by eating or drinking.

A constant balance must be made between the expected energy to be expended, the food available to recover and the time that we will devote to carrying out the activity, assessing whether it’s worth throwing one or the other out depending on whether we need to gain more followers or a good handful of coins.

In the technical section there is nothing remarkable. The characters are a bit more stylized than in the first title, maintaining that cool, cheerful aesthetic. The atmospheres are very colorful and with many elements, a little “oversize” and childish, but they retain a certain charm. It lacks more vitality in the cities, but this does not affect the gameplay. Musically, being a game that constantly repeats its sequence (waking up, looking for trends, doing an activity, coming home and sleeping), the music remains the same in each of these sequences. It makes it tiring to listen to the same music so much.

Conclusion and personal opinion

The life of youtubers 2 It is a life simulator, one of the so called “life stealing”. You can spend hours and hours on the screen doing insatiable activities. This is not at all negative, as it manages to keep you entertained, while also engaging you, to continue to achieve daily goals. Some of these activities can become repetitive, especially at the beginning when we will have more limited access to the map or we will not be friends with anyone.

The aspect that I liked the least is the fact that the daily time to organize and achieve the goals is very limited. Certainly, this has been done carefully so that the player chooses the objective or activity that suits him best at the time. While it can be, there are days when the goal is achieved very quickly and easily. After that, we don’t have time in the rest of the day to start another activity.

Another negative point that I found is a series of bugs, especially when editing the videos for uploading to NewTube. After downloading them, you no longer see the result. This forced me to check it out later in the character’s mobile app.

What makes this more striking The life of youtubers 2 is the wide range of customization it has. Personalization both for our character and also for our house.
