We return one more week with a new chapter of “Games that are announced and you probably don’t remember them”. After a short break where we inquired, we return to this section where games like Wonder Woman, the new IO Interactive project or the game with Captain America and Black Panther have already passed.
Today we’re taking a look at Xbox Game Studios to focus on a game that was announced almost three years ago, and since then we haven’t heard anything about it. Do you remember the smuggling?
Cooperative action in a huge world located in Malaysia
The title is developed by Avalanche Studios in association with Xbox Game Studios. The game launched in June 2021, as part of Microsoft’s annual Xbox Game Showcase. And he did it with a brief teaser that showed little about his proposal. He left us a vague idea of his world, of which it is said will take place in 1970 in a fictional region similar to Malaysia, where we will find biomes of all kinds: coasts, deserts and lush forests.
There was nothing about gameplay in the teaser presentation and at the moment we still don’t know anything officially. Of course, thanks to various leaks we have some information about what awaits us in this new game. For example, will have a very important cooperative component where players will play as smugglers in very difficult missions in order to obtain high-value objectives.
Of course, it should be noted that we will have a high level of customization of our character, allowing us to adapt different aspects and weapons to obtain our ideal avatar. This includes modifying and upgrading weapons, armor, and even skills.
Additionally, the teaser also seemed to indicate the ability to drive vehicles, which would give us clues that Contraband might have a big map. An ideal size for the groups of players who venture there, since it should be noted that the teams will be up to eight players who will have to accomplish each objective in the most efficient way possible. And yes, that includes stealth.

Either way, it looks like 2024 could be a big year for Contraband. Several sources mention that the game Avalanche will be one of the protagonists of this year’s Xbox Game Showcase. If that’s the case, we’ll hear from him again three years later and this time he should do it with some of that hiccup-removing gameplay. Will we see its release date for 2025?
