This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of a version ofApex Legends optimized for next-gen consoles. In fact, Respawn has confirmed multiple times over the past year that it’s working on graphical improvements like increased resolution and a 120fps mode. However, no release date has been announced and it has been some time since we had any news from the studio on the matter.
However, there seems to be something new. The @PlaystationSize account inspects PlayStation Network databases. These often contain a few surprises, like unannounced titles. This time it’s a new version ofApex Legends on PS5, which has been unearthed and turns out to be a lot harder than usual.

As you can see below, this version dedicated to the PS5 should weigh 80 GB, that is 25 GB more than currently. So this is most likely not a simple content update. While this information applies to the PS5 version of the title, this next-gen update is expected to come to Xbox Series X|S. For now, the studio hasn’t used the leak to confirm the information, but that could change by the February 8 release of season 12.
