Arkane Lyon has just begun development on the game Marvel’s Blade, Bethesda has officially announced.
Bethesda Softworks and Marvel Games have already announced that Arkane Lyon, the development studio behind the critically acclaimed and award-winning DEATHLOOP and Dishonored titles, is working on a new adult third-person game based on the comic book hero Blade .
Now those responsible are speaking out. Bethesda has announced that development has only just begun.
“To mark Blade’s 50th anniversary, we have found the perfect match for the Daywalker in Arkane Lyon – a studio full of uncompromising artists who continually push the boundaries of game design and innovation -,” said Bill Rosemann, Vice President and Creative Director at Marvel Games . “In addition to the award-winning expertise, it is above all the personal passion and the courageous vision for our half-human, half-vampire border crosser that make this collaboration perfect.”
Arkane Lyon has just begun development on the game, which will combine a unique story with the immersive gameplay and world-class storytelling expertise the studio is known for.
“As the son of parents of different backgrounds, I felt a special connection to Blade because he is a hero with a similarly divided history,” said Dinga Bakaba, game director at Arkane Lyon. “For me it’s a dream come true because we have the chance to put our own spin on the character – and of course it’s also a challenge that the team takes on with passion. We’re thrilled to give players the opportunity to step into Blade’s shoes as he cleans up peg after peg in my hometown of Paris.”
Marvel’s Blade places players in an isolated area of Paris in the midst of a supernatural emergency. Vampires have appeared there and are now terrorizing the City of Lights, forcing Parisians to hole up at home at night and wait for the sunrise.
“From the trench coat to his iconic sunglasses, Blade is a casual, stylish and hands-on character,” said Sébastien Mitton, co-creative and art director at Arkane Lyon. “This project is perfect for taking Arkane’s design style in an even more modern and bold direction.
