Both characters in Assassin’s Creed Shadows can be changed almost throughout the game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the next installment in Ubisoft’s popular action-adventure series. To coincide with the Summer Game Fest, the French company gave a deeper insight into the gameplay.
Associate Game Director Simon Lemay-Comtois explained the game mechanics behind the protagonist duo to VG247. According to him, the player can freely switch between Samurai Yasuke and Shinobi Naoe for most of the adventure. Only in some sequences will the playable character be fixed.
Nevertheless, the French developer wants to encourage the player to switch characters. To do this, Ubisoft Quebec uses an interesting mechanic.
Each protagonist will also be able to find equipment and items for the other. The loot will be shared between the characters. This should encourage players to give the other style of play a chance.
“Progression motivates the player to switch because if you only play one character for a while, that character will pick up things that the other character can use. So both characters progress together, so to speak.”
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be released on November 15th for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
