To the start of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II, Xbox and Ninja Theory have teamed up with Icelandic jeweler Aurum to create a limited-edition jewelry collection rooted in both the game’s world and its real-life inspiration in Iceland. The sequel to the acclaimed 2017 film Hellblade: Senua’s victim, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II follows the warrior Senua on her journey to Iceland in the 10th century and fights her way through myth and torment in a brutal survival saga. Aurum is Iceland’s leading jewelry brand and the perfect partner to create a necklace and headpiece that reflects Senua’s world, combining intensity, beauty and femininity, drawing on the same rugged and majestic landscapes.
The Aurum collaboration includes a custom-made headpiece for Melina Jürgens, the BAFTA-winning actress who plays Senua in both Hellblade games. Developed in collaboration between Aurum lead designer Guðbjörg Kristín Ingvarsdótir and Ninja Theory character art director Dan Crossland, the custom headgear is inspired by the headgear worn by Senua in the game. The piece is crafted from hammered oxidized silver and assembled by layers of sea eagle wings, in reference to the mythological Norse guardian spirits; the warriors of the time believed it was a symbol of protection.
In addition to the headdress, Aurum created handcrafted bronze necklaces that combine authentic Icelandic inspiration with the dark fantasy influences of Iceland Hellblade. Fans can enter to win these necklaces in a global sweepstakes hosted by Xbox on X (formerly Twitter). For more information and to participate, please visit post.
In the spirit of paying homage to the Icelandic environment, Aurum pieces are housed in their signature sustainable packaging, modeled after a real Icelandic pebble from Djúpalónssandur beach on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The paper box is made from fibers of the mulberry tree, which are collected from the leaves without having to cut down a single tree. Aurum always sources only recycled and re-refined precious metals and only purchases certified and conflict-free gemstones and diamonds.
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be released on May 21, 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, PC and Steam and can be played on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
