The title PlatinumGames and Square Enix managed to surpass half a million units sold worldwide.
Today marks exactly four years since Androids 2B and 9S embarked on an adventure set on a post-apocalyptic planet Earth riddled with alien machines. The eccentric creator Yoko Taro surprised us in 2017 with NieR: Automata. This J-RPG with mechanics of Hack and Slash immersed us in an incredible story about love and the meaning of life. All seasoned with impressive settings and an exquisite soundtrack.
To celebrate the play’s fourth anniversary, Square Enix shared the latest game sales data, which we learned via Famitsu website. The work has exceeded 5.5 million units sold count physical and digital formats. The game’s official Twitter account in Japan thanked fans for all the support shown as follows:
Without a doubt, selling over half a million copies is no small feat, especially considering that this is a title released four years ago. Also, it looks like the game still has an appeal, as two months ago, on December 24, the tally was 5 million units.
NieR: Automata is currently available for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Now the title can be enjoyed for free through Game Pass. Square Enix has also confirmed that NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 will be released on April 22, 2021 in Japan and Asia. To be able to benefit from it in the West, we will have to wait another day, 23 april.
